This is why US News rankings are bogus. This makes up 25% of the scores, I believe. And they are required to do this for ALL of those in the rankings.

I realize that UF's academics are better than LSU's but LSU as an adequate ranking is just as wrong as UF as distingulished.

My biggest problem is ranking Penn just as good.. Thats a top 10 school as is Duke and UoC. But he has Cal at the top.. Huh? Oh well these lists are really meaningless anyways.. I went to the #12 school on the current USNEWS list but cant really say I learned anything more or less than I did at LSU. LSU was much harder for me. But it does look better on a resume I admit.

ETA I didnt see him rank CalTech as just strong too..

I guess he never saw an interview with Tony Joiner or Joakim Noah....

I'm sure hiring managers for today's corporations have a really tough time deciding between two candidates from Harvard and Florida.

As a Yankee from NYC, I wouldn't really put Florida that far above LSU, and I sure as hell wouldn't put Florida above Vanderbilt? WTF?

I most certainly would not put it on the same level as Harvard and Yale.

That guy must have been buying some strong weed from Jarvis Moss....

Ok. Lets get to point rather than generalizations. What is the meaning of better and for what?
Academic types make me puke. Most of these college professor types have not idea how to function in real life.
So, if you want to be a Chemical Engineer (or for that fact mechanical or petroleum), do you go to UF or LSU? Duh, lets see.
It all depends on what you want to do with yourself. For talented people it makes no difference. 5 years later in the real world, no one gives a crap where you went. It's all about your ability to learn and think, not about a bunch of facts that academics drove into your head.

I have worked with engineers from UF, Vandy and Tulane. Not impressed at all. Actually, Louisiana Tech has better engineers than all of those.

I'll tell you how great UF is. Someone needs to send the president of UF that video clip of that congresswoman from Florida epousing UF's football championship. What a great role model and true representation of a great university. According to the video, that UF alum speaks volumes for her school.

If you notice his trend. The schools marked distingulished that are listed before UF (Cal, Stanford and Yale). All received a rating of strong, until he got to UF and realized he might want to go back and change the previous three so he doesn't look more like an idiot.
