Also, we're considering just staying at the restaurant that night (they actually have a couple rooms). Have you heard anything about those suites?

Yeah. They're good.

Jersey-with an entire day to kill Thursday (wine tours Friday and Victoria after the game) what would you think about a Mt. Ranier trip W-Th (overnighting) or other suggestions for a day?

That could work, especially if you are in to hiking. I actually think Mt. St. Helens is really cool also. Here's a link to a random guy's Picasa pics of that: Mt. St. Helens

If you wanted to go a little farther, I'd say head down to the north Oregon coast. Cross into Oregon at the Astoria Bridge. There's cool Lewis and Clark stuff on the Washington side too. Drive south of Astoria to see some really spectacular coastline. I recommend Canon Beach.

You could also go to Eastern Washington - maybe Walla Wala wine country.

It's hard to go wrong. Just know that you won't be able to see nearly everything, so just pick something and be happy with it.

You can't go wrong with Rainier.....when you see it in the backdrop of Seattle you will want to go. Especially if you like hiking.....If you don't go to the Oregon coast, check out Multnomah Falls (30 min east of portland). There are quite a few waterfalls with miles and miles of hikes. My favorite is Oeaneda falls. You have to climb over a huge logjam and walk through waist deep water at times while your surrounded by a canyon. Its only a half mile hike but it takes some time and at the end is a beautiful fall. All of these falls are just a few miles apart and are awesome. That is the short hike, there are others up to 12 miles. There is so much you could see in the northwest its ridiculous:)

What are you worried about? LOL.....even the crappy sections of town don't compare to new orleans or baton rouge....you don't have too many worries here.

Yeah - but I know where NOT to go in NO and BR. Not so in Seattle. Just want to make sure it's a decent place and not the Bate's Motel!

I lived in Belltown when I first moved here. It's kind of like a young, hip area north of downtown. It has become slightly seedier in the past few years, but it's totally fine. I was amused to see an older episode of Frasier the other night (maybe 1997ish) where Frasier wanted Niles to do some kind of clandestine drop off in Belltown and Niles was freaking out. It's really come a long way since then.

Belltown is very well situated for your purposes.

I know....I am just playing with you. Seattle is overall not a dangerous place. It can be if you put yourself into uncertain situations. You will be ok there. There are more murders in New Orleans in a few months than the whole state of washington combined. I myself like where your staying cause your close to pioneer square ( about 17 bars with one cover) there are free buses downtown and walking distance to a lot. I am 33 so what I like maybe different from what you like. Make sure you (if renting a car) you go to west seattle (alki beach), its a great view of downtown with Mt. Rainier in the backdrop:)

I seem to be running into more LSU folks every week here lately. Even saw a bum with an LSU shirt on the other day. Awesome.

Hey Jersey, four of us are thinking doing some sight seeing on Mt. Ranier on Sunday. What do you recommend for the drive? You know of any fun tours? If we rent a vehicle, are they any must see places that can be driven to?

The tours typically leave from downtown by 7 or 7:30 in the morning. You can definitely go in a rental car though.

Dude...details and contacts. I've been looking for the Seattle alumni association for years. Vancouver would work!

Doc, that is kind of an odd area to stay in. The buses won't be free and it isn't near anything of interest except maybe the zoo.
