Well, for starters, Larry Coker won the championship in his first year with players that he neither recruited nor developed while Miles won it in his third.
In that aspect, it would be more appropriate to compare miles to other coaches who won it their third year, dontcha think?
Meyer, Tressel, Saban....
They don't understand this. They believe 2 things:
1. All players of the former coach must be "Purged" from the team, before any "True" coaching evaluation can take place. This is both completely Stupid & Flawed.
So essentially 5 years after a coach is hired..they can start to evaluate his worth.
2. Can't play Seniors - forget any kind experience & technique, gotta put the hot shot Freshman no matter what. Of course this means NO NFL drafted players...but they haven't thought that far ahead. And if the Freshman doesn't perform like Leonard Marshall or Glenn Dorsey, right away, he is considered a failure &/or not getting taught the proper technique.
Ah....the poor Sabanistas

quote:all you have to do is watch the all access to the super bowl to see how dumb comparing these to is. miles can't get coherent thoughts out and blows at clock management. sean knows everything going on in a game and runs one of the best 2 min offenses in the league.
sean payton went 7-9 then 8-8 and some of these same people were calling for his job

Maybe as a "players best friend's coach" ????

This is what I find most comical. Recruitniks shitting themselves over whether or not Ware is going to be redshirted because he's heads better than Murphy, a senior, Ridley a solid performer, and Ford, the shothot from last year.

Miles has never lost complete control of his team and had 10+ players suspended or arrested in one season

Anywhere Miles is quoted, his words are not difficult to comprehend by anyone other than someone who is specifically looking to criticize him.

right he was completely coherent after the ole miss game.
id still like to know why 17-9 and 1-8 vs the top 25 the last 2 years is acceptable at LSU.

try giving up on the field. they didn't even have the will to play against ole miss in 08. one of the saddest displays ive ever seen in tiger stadium. im more worried about on field results than arrest.

And I'd like to know how forming an argument by grouping the last two years and ignoring the prior three and failing to acknowledge the improvement is acceptable at the Rant.
7-1
6-2
6-2
3-5
5-3
If you'll notice, only one of those years is significantly different from the others...

Miles had a pretty nice run for three years. 2 losses in each season, but still, a nice run.
His teams played tough defense and took chances on offense in order to win.
Ever since RP left, Miles has appeared out of sync. I am not sure that these two things are related, but they might be. I really think that Miles had built the team around RP being at LSU until 2010. That's why he gave the kids soooo many chances. When RP left, I think Miles was left without a plan, and Gary isn't the kind of coach who can turn lemons into lemon-aid. On a good day, Gary will make a good offense average, so give him a inexperienced QB and Gary made a mess of it.

That both shows that you have no respect for the university, the team, and the players and that arrests are not a concern for this program.

i care about wins plain and simple that is what miles is paid to do. arrest can be swept under the rug not living up to all the talent we have can't

not really uf has plenty of arrest yet they seem to manage just fine.

Arrests are a source of shame and ridicule and offer up a hundred times more proof that a coach can't control his team than a lack of on-field production. In fact, I'd say that being able to keep everyone out of trouble while the team was sagging indicates Miles has a greater grasp on his team than most imagine.

The best thing that can happen for him and what 80% of LSU fans deserve.

well i guess we should just pay him 4mil a year to baby sit. Hell as long as no one gets arrested who cares that we have a 2 game losing streak to ole miss bc we can't do simple things like call a time out before 20 seconds runs off the clock and we can't prepare for situations that will happen in a game. its all good no one gets arrested and that means way more than wins
