There can be no doubt as to the greatest LSU game ever played ... And God himself (a huge Tiger fan) agrees with me
LSU 21 Oklahoma 14
LSU "turned the corner" and put our Program on the national CFB stage ... where it remains today

Even though we lost the game on the scoreboard, it didn't feel like a lose to me.
I was proud to be a Tiger after that game.

I can not believe no one said anything about the 1982 LSU vs Bama game At Bama. The finale score was 20-10 We almost filled the P-Mac that day as the was broadcast by Satilite but it was a great game from start to finish. Even after all these years I still think about that game especially during Bama week. Jerry Stoval was the Coach. This game to me was/is the very best game that I have ever seen LSU play.
Two weeks later Florida St comes to town and the Winner goes to the Orange Bowl to play Nebraska and LSU wins the game in a snow storm of oranges 55-21. Yes I had and threw some oranges myself. Then LSU goes to the Orange Bowl and plays and then looses by one point 21-20.
Sure there has been some great games that no one has even mentioned, like the ND game in 1971 28-8 and ND found out that day about Death Valley. The Ole Miss games of 1970 Archie Who came into Death Valley with a bad arm in a cast and left with a 61-17 whipping and in 1973 they came back to Baton Rouge and left with a loss 17-16 by a Bert Jones to Brad Davis pass in the Southeast end zone with 1 second remaining.
The Game in the 1966 Cotton Bowl where LSU ended Arkansas's 22 game winning streak 14-7.

I can not believe I forgot about that game. Where did I rank the Florida State game...insert this game there. #3-But the biggest win of my life time. I remember what I did that day. I was 10. I remember the joke after the game. And I remember "TigerRag" had Bama's only TD as the cover.
Al Richardson leaping in front of the QB...great picture...but Bama scored.
And...wasn't that the first game EVER on "TigerVision?" We ordered it.
After the game...Bear Bryant beat his wife! He asked, "what time is it?" And she said, "Twenty to Ten." (That was the joke I remember)

You tend to favor those memorable games when you were an undergrad:
#1 1971 LSU 28 ND 8 LSUs D stops ND four times in the read zone at the one, three, ten, and nineteen yard lines. Tommy Casanova almost completely shuts down Tom Gatewood (consensus All-American). Andy Hamilton runs rings around Clarence Ellis (consensus All-American). Jones & Lyons threw ten passes, completing eight, and seven were to Hamilton. The crowd flattens the wire mesh fence and strips the players of everything but pads & pants. Ara Parseghian acknowledges ND has never played in a place like Tiger Stadium.
#2 1972 LSU 17 Ole Miss 16 With one second on the clock and LSU on the twenty yard line, Ole Miss calls a time out to set their defense. Bert Jones gets the play from Cholly Mac who says, "This is it; get it in there." Jones looks at Mac and winks. From the 20 yard line, LSU lines up in a formation not used all year with the flanker and split end wide left, and the tailback Brad Davis in the slot. Jones takes the snap and a three step drop, then lofts to ball to Brad Davis who is cutting behind Al Coffee (go Lee High!) and Gerald Keigley. Davis, one yard shy of the corner post, turns and seeing Jones standing with no ball, puts his left hand up, one-hands the ball and spins backward over the goal line after being hit by ole Miss #30. Rusty Jackson boots the extra point and the Ole Miss band goes dead quiet while Tiger Stadium goes berserk.
#3 1969 LSU 21 Auburn 20 The Tigers stop Pat Sullivan, Heisman trophy winner, via the heroics of George Bevan & Mike Anderson (go Lee High!). After Sullivan lead Auburn to the tieing TD in the fourth quarter, they lined up for the extra point. Bevan, assigned the responsibility for rushing around the end, spots a gap in the middle at the snap, shoots it and blocks the extra point.

1A.) 17-16 win vs Ole Miss in 72 (High School student)
1B.) 17-12 loss vs USC in 79 (GBFTL)
2.) 55-21 win vs Fla. St in 82 (GBFTL)
3.) 28-21 win vs Florida in 97 (Alum)
4.) 30-28 win vs Bama in 00 (Alum) Ended Bama's long win streak in TS.
5.) 28-8 win vs Notre Dame in 7? (High School student)
Earthquake game vs Auburn would be on the list, but I missed it for some reason that escapes my memory.........

The LSU-USC game played in Tiger Stadium on Sept 29, 1979 was one of the greatest LSU football games ever. I was there.
Marcus Allen and Charles White (2 Heisman trophy winners) were on that USC team with many other All Americans and future Pro Players
Here is a link to the highlights
LINK
LSU did go to USC and beat them but it was 5 years later on the same date (today) Sept 29, 1984.
LSU avenged a 12-17 loss in Tiger Stadium with a 23-3 victrory in the Coliseum.

YEAH
I know they are USC highlights, but it shows the talent that they had. USC was ranked #1 and LSU was ranked #20 going into the game

I've never seen TS get as loud as it did when Green caught the pass in the end zone in the student section on a completely busted up play. Yes, louder than the '07 UF game when USC was announced that they had lost.

Depends on your definition of GREAT..
at TS (excluding NCs-Bowls)
LSU - USC Most incredible game at TS ever 1979
LSU - Notre Dame, most rewarding 1971 ?

1. 1979 USC Game . We lost but the house was rocking and loud to the point that John Ferguson was drowned out by the crowd noise. I had to listen with the radio to my ear to know what had happened. I had to work that night and could not attend. My brother in law said Most folks were standing throughout the game.
