So Les would sometimes run a spread.

Peyton Manning was a spread QB.

The spread is merely 3 or more WRs to spread out the defense.

That's not at all what the spread offense is. It certainly is designed to spread a defense out, but it's not as simple as putting 3 WRs in the game.

It is spread out over 4 quarters.

1 or 2 good plays each quarter.

Yes it is. You can run different plays from the spread (e.g RPO) but that is a variation on the spread. It is not the spread in itself.

No, it's not. You are describing a formation. The spread offense is an offensive scheme.

If Georgia Tech puts 3 WRs on the field at any given time, are they running the spread offense?

They would be running a spread-style play. If they consistently had 3WRs on the field nearly every play, then it would be a spread offense.

There are many kinds of spread offenses including the West Coast Spread, the RPO spread, and run and shoot, and the zone read spread.

For fricks sake.

Offensive scheme designed to spread the defense out, generally using 3 or more WRs = spread offense.

Use of 3 or more WRs does not automatically = spread offense.

Then why do Spread QBs have so much trouble transitioning to the NFL?

It’s because spread offenses ask so much less of them than pro offenses and to me that’s the biggest difference.

Like Bruce Arian once said, they don’t play QB they kick their leg and throw.

Unless you're running nothing but bunch formations, 3 WRs are going to spread the defense out.

If GA Tech lines up in a power I formation, are they running a power I offense?

When they were talking about using stuff from 16 and staying in 21 or 22 personnel, I just had to laugh. So basically still try to run Cams offense.

Is there any chance this amazing spread offense we heard about will be unveiled this week?

For our coaches they are going to need more time to get it up and going if at all. Easy for me to see that the college
game is going air born and you are going to have to score 30 plus to win most games. We certainly need to open up the offense more.

Teams that cannot put pressure on the QB are going to struggle---we need a better pass rush. Its moving to an NFL style game.
