I remember him as well and did a google on him.
He went to De La Salle in NOLA. This story I found about him is too legit.
Someone else said he was a math major.

I definitely remember him from the b-ball games at the PMAC. One time I was at the Mr. Gatti's buffet near the old Murphy's (around '96) and everyone was watching Sportscenter after LSU had just lost to Michigan and Tractor Traylor in a close game. Anyway, he was sitting by himself talking to the TV nonstop and kept shouting that they should be showing LSU highlights and that LSU was a better team than Michigan. The fact that the PMAC was usually fairly empty made his tirades stand out even more.

I also lived in Kirby on the 7th floor (Mungolia) during the fall of 1990. Mike was the standard for the ultimate LSU bb fan. Didn't he also come up with the name of the publication that replaced the Gumbo?

we played UCLA in 94 or 95? the year they won it all
it was a saturday and had a final that morning, i got to the PMAC to stand in line at about 9am after the test
toole was the first guy there, had spent the night there by himself
hated that guy. always running in front of you, tossing the pom pom and catching it while yelling "touchdown deion sanders"

"let's do the chop!"
dude always wanted to do the Fla St tomahawk chop at the basketball games.
Also remember students would always pelt him with the newspapers after visitor lineups were called. Good times.

I lived in Kirby Smith fall of 90 on the top floor
between Toole and Andy Dykert I dont know who was the bigger nutjob
when the students did the hiding behind the newspapers while the opposing starters were announced it was awesome to see the entire section ball up their papers and pelt Mike with them as he ran down the stairs
we used to play basketball in the old gym armory on those slippery floors and you could hear Mike throwing weight and roaring downstairs in the basement weight room

'm Mike Toole's mother. A friend told me about all the talk of Mike. I tried to get Mike to reply but he is too fearful. He does have aspergers. He now lives in Metairie near the Saints and Zephyr field. He works for the Zephyrs when they are in town. He keeps statistics on the players and uploads it to a company that collects stats on players. He got a degree in Mathematics from LSU and has done post-grad work at UNO in education and broadcasting. He would like to be a sports broadcaster but hasn't had any luck getting a job in that field. Thank all of you for remembering Mike. He loves LSU and he loved reading all that you all remembered about him. Thank you all and God bless you.

She really is his Mom. This is his sister. He does have Aspergers, but we didn't get the diagnosis until well after he was out of college. Back then, not much was known about this disease. I wish I had gone to LSU so I could have watched out for him more. Mike is a total sweetheart, and know that his family loves him very much and he is well taken care of. Still a walking encyclopedia of sports info and HUGE LSU fan!

He named the publication "Legacy" which is still in print at LSU. He said that everyone who went to LSU left a legacy there.
