We are not going to play SMU in the Cotton Bowl.
I haven't heard enough good info, but if Nebraska beats OU is there a chance of us playing Oklahoma, or is A&M a done deal?

point being you don't care who we play .. you just want to go to cowboys stadium .. and A&M was officially invited two days ago ..

Geez, I thought it was going to be SMU.
Please do two things:
1. Listen a little closer to the players.
2. Go to the Cap One Bowl and watch Alabama and Michigan State play so we'll all be happy.

once again .. WHERE have you seen this supposed sentiment that the players prefer playing A&M over Michigan St ?? WHERE ? link it .. I would love to "listen"to the players if you could show me where they've spoken .. once again, you are confusing fan sentiment ..

Of the two players that I know on the team, one wants to play in the Cotton, one wants to play in the Cap 1. Based on what I hear the teams divided on where each player wants to go, but will be happy with either.

Plus, playing A&M seems more fun than playing Michigan State.
But I don't care too much...either way, LSU will have a good matchup.

Honestly I didn't read this while thread.
However this year we have beaten ou and Nebraska both of which were ranked 8th at the time we beat them. I know right know ou is still 9th while Nebraska is 11(?) I believe. Our three losses were all to ranked teams. After we changed qb's we have been on a roll winning our last 6. I feel if we were to play the teams we list to today the games would be different or if Sherman would have played RT sooner we could oy have 1 maybe 2 losses. We both had a close game with Arkansas.
I know y'all probably already knew all that but thought k would share it
J feel as though our ranking right now doesn't do us justice. IMO we should be around 14th or 15th at least

I agree, y'all are under ranked.

The main impact of Tannehill is that he doesn't turn the ball over. I don't believe he would of made much of a difference in the Mizzou and Arkansas games but I believe you guys would have beaten okie state if Tannehill was qb.

The problem with JJ was that it was like he had bonuses where the ball was going when he threw it. He could throw the ball and it could go 15 yards on front or behind the receiver.
I agree don't think RT would haveade much of a difference in the mizzou game but I think we would have beaten arky with him playing

With the arky game you guys hit pretty much a hail mary at the end of the first half and Mallet pretty much threw a pick 6. Your offense was totally shut down that game. Just hard to see Tannehill making the offense that much better that game.

No kidding. The cotton bowl sucks. Why would anyone want to play ATM? If we win we were supposed too and if we lose it looks bad. I'd like to play a team that I'm at least interested in watching.

A&M will be a good match up and it's the only game that day, If it's cotton I'll be making the trip from Katy to Dallas.

look up last year's bowl television ratings .. our cap one bowl was the fifth highest rated game
I'm really surprised at that. I still think we have a chance to stand out more in the Cotton. Only game that that date and at night, also closer to the date of the BCS championship game.

For u younger guys A&M used to be a big rival with Lsu back in the day. A lot of years it was our first game. The last time we played them GENE Stalins was their coach. I think it will be a very good game.

Rag is right about Cap1 getting better ratings than Cotton last year. But as far as TV ratings, the gap will certainly close this year between Cap1 and Cotton with Cotton going from Jan. 2 to Jan 7th primetime, and Cap1 going from ABC to ESPN. For that matter, the gap in TV ratings last year wasn't very big to begin with (Cap1 5th rated bowl games vs Cotton 9th rated bowl game).
Cotton's ratings will increase, and Cap1's will probably decrease a tad. It's certainly very possible the Cotton will have more "BCS-like" ratings this year and may very well pass up the Cap1 in TV ratings (I'm not sure what they'll be, but it is certain that the gap that existed last year will certainly shrink).
Bottom line is that if the choices were Cap1 vs Toilet Bowl, we'd certainly choose Cap1, but given the fact that Cotton and Cap1 are very very similar in terms of bowl tier (and both great bowls), the choice is fairly easy IMO given that LSU was just in Cap1 last year.
As someone earlier in the thread pointed out, it's not like there is some kind of championship on the line in the bowl game, either game, so it's more about fan interest, new destination, etc, than it is about where LSU will end up in the final polls after a bowl win. And as others have pointed out, take away Michigan State's ranking and there is very little about Michigan State that gets me fired up.

Dallas is closer.
The venue for the game is a world class venue. It is also indoors which alleviates the unknown of weather.
We played in the Cap One last year, and the people who do go to these games don't necessarily like to go to the same city in successive years.
People of Louisiana have a natural rivalry with Texas. Even moreso with Texas A&M because the older people remember the 1990's when A&M handed it to us yearly.

Like he said - Cap One SUX and we just went there last year. Problem here is we should have beaten Arky, and be going to the Sugar!!!!
