We can only hope its complacency, self entitlement, were told how great they were, no high motor. Look for them to step it up this week when we play an SEC opponent. If they don't this week, they probably won't all year which means our 70/30 run pass scheme will equal a long season. Defense looks good though but its not reasonable to expect them to do so great against more physical teams that can run between the tackles.

when we have only dural out wide and everyone else in close...we always run up the middle. even if we play action theres only one wr running. so just send 10 defenders to the middle as fast as u can and we will run into it anyways...we like it that way...

I don't understand why we don't spread out the offensive line with wider splits. If we are going to be predictable on when we run, we should at least have our O line split out further from each other, increasing the chance of better running lanes.

love to hear the insight, coach. Please educate me.
Dont try and put your burden of ignorance on me. How exactly is it "predictive" playcalling? Do you know the plays? Is it simly calling run or pass that is so obvious to you? If so, are you aware that there are many of either in the playbook? Do you realize that 6 vs 9 never happens or are you just dramatically throwing numbers out to support your idiotic rant?
Its you that should be answering questions.

I think the center situation has had a lot to do with it. Elliot Porter was poised to start before the suspension. Pocic starts his first game against an aggressive shifting and stunting defense. There were some blown assignments, but things started clicking. In comes Sam Houston State and Pocic gets injured, answering the question: Who is our 3rd string center.
With Pocic dinging, the timing of Porter's return helps, but he also seemed to take a bit to get back into the swing of things as far as protections. I think having consistency over the ball will go a long way.
That said, we've won all three games. One against a good team and two convincingly over lesser schools. I'm not quite ready to get too concerned. Moo U will be a good test.

i'll bet you're sorry we don't run the spread.
newsflash; teams gameplan around EVERY COACHES PHILOSOPHY.
I disagree wholeheartedly that we telegraph every play. sure, we run a lot of the SAME PLAYS and opponents gameplan around those plays BUT run blitzes and stacking the box is a damn dangerous strategy against cam Cameron. many of our long successful pass plays are the result of this "gambling" by their D and they were burned for it big time. and, if AJ and the OL and RB can learn to execute the screen pass it will be even more devastating to the opposing D that stacks the box.
as far as "creative" play calling, i'm just gonna come right and say you don't know what you're talking about. occasionally you can fool a defense but consistently winning football games is about EXECUTION, not trickery.
LSU GrandDad, this might be your best post ever. I couldn't agree more; nicely done.

I just read all 5 pages and I agree with what most of you are saying. My biggest concern is when they line up needing 1 yard for a first down of touchdown and the line gets stood up. Stood up by smaller lineman. Stopped in their tracks. The running backs must then try to push their way trough because there is no hole and the lineman are not 1 yard farther up the field. Darrel Williams barely made the touchdown from the 1. Barely! Grimes can't be blamed for this. Those who are worried about early entries from this offensive line group are crazy. Let them go, see what round if any that they get picked.
