73% of people who claim to have this position were (at one point in their lives) in the LSU student section screaming profanities. "

I'm hoping that once the current classof studentsarelong goneand grown up,maybe 10-15 years from now, they will reconsider playing TigerRag, Neck, etc. once again. The lsu students 10 years from now are around 8 or 9 years old now, so they likely won't have any knowledge of what the students are doing with the songs right now. I hope anyways.

Tiger Rag has been gone for 25 years.

You can make up dirty lyrics to every song. So what, let's stop the band? Come on, play all the songs!

Incorrect, the song "Talkin' Out The Side of your Neck" was written by the band Cameo (of "Word Up" fame). The version Tiger Band plays is an arrangement taken from a group of 4 songs that was given out to the student leaders prior to the 2007 football season. The arrangement is done by a publishing company, not Southern's Band Director.

WTF? That's not true at all. But of course I'm not surprised some people think this. Everything "cool" must start at Southern, right?

Southern University's band director can't right a musically compelling arrangement of Mary Had a Little Lamb.

you got that right bro. But, in any case, Dr. Greggs was their band director for a loooooong time and he was a great director and even better guy. Playing the national anthem with the SU band with he and Wickes conducting is something I'll remember for a long time.

eta: but he didn't write the song "Neck"

Why is Tiger Rag still banned? It's been like 6 years.

I can only imagine what would be said of a crowd at Grambling State or Southern sang in unison those disgusting and tasteless lyrics to neck.

I was wondering that myself. Why did it get banned? For the same stuff Neck did?
