I'm with the camp that if you are a competitor and you know you have a chance to beat out two average Qb's you do whatever it takes. I'm sure if he had been lights out in practice then Miles would have pointed that out. I do recall Les praising the true incoming freshman Lee saying he looks like he is gonna be special. Don't recall him ever saying the same for Garrett. i believe that's what sent this guy packing

One thing is for certain. If he does transfer to MSU Miles will no longer be in Baton Rouge when he returns to QB the Buldogs in TS.
It won't be Moo-state. The Advocate is reporting a "No SEC" clause in the release.

Rivals reported that the only SEC school could be Miss St.

If zlee comes that will lessen the blow some. The problem is the progression. The only QB you have between 2 juniors and kids still in high school is a kid who was just a first round draft choice of the LA dodgers. He is also a pitcher. This is not exactly a casual position in baseball as far as wear and tear on the arm and shoulder. It's all gonna play out, but I feel we needed another solid QB between Zlee and the juniors so we don't have to start a young player again. We have to sign a couple of solid QBs these next 2 years.

sometimes i wonder if a true freshman with a good QB IQ could come in immediately and be better than what we had last year

The dimwit crowd is looking for a reason to bitch about Les Miles.

Its not what String you are!! Its how you treat people and this situation was handled with "NO CLASS" by LSU and Miles. If my son was a Recruit and was looking at LSU Football he would not be anymore!!!
Good send your brat to punk state where he belongs when the time comes.

Les doesn't recruit cheerleaders.

that's not. What you were saying though.
Miles probably told him he would have a chance to compete. I doubt he told him you will be starting in one or two years.
Guess what, the kid had his chance to compete. It didn't work out for him. Now he is doing what's best for him, which is fine.

People need to quit whining like he was "treated baddly" that's how college football is. It happens on every team every season.

I think Garrett leaving the team is resonating with fans to this degree because many of us aren't convinced Jefferson or Lee can take this team to Atlanta and harbored hope garrett was the real deal and would emerge this year. With him gone so is much of that hope. Admittedly that hope may not have been realistic but it was something.

Very deep, and you are correct.

That, and all we know is that the chart is two deep, then a walk on (grayshirt, whatever he is) at this point. Z. Lee isn't in the bag.
JJ and Lee haven't shown that they have a grasp of the offense and there is no one else. So yeah, its worrisome. Not the end of the world, but pretty much another lost option. The two remaining aren't exactly inspiring awe in the fan base.

+1
Fwiw, I think some fans are completely overreacting to Garrett being cut.

I agree. There may be a legit worry about depth but that's about the extent of it.

Malaysian Tiger- Don't think this situation is unique to LSU- Happens at every school, every sport...remember when Coach Mainieri did the same thing when he got here...
By the way, I admire your avitar...

I think that is the extent of it. How many people were advocating Garrett becoming the man, this year?
