yeah, right, no college coach recruiter tells lies to 17 and 18 year olds around the country to get them to come their school, right Peter Pan?

So was he cut or did he ask for a release?? I keep hearing his departure explained both ways.

Not saying it doesn't happen, just saying it isn't right. Also, telling a kid he's going to play and he doesn't and telling a kid that we're paying for your school and then you don't...there is a difference.
Can you imagine if you got a TOPS scholarship, maintain the minimum requirements to keep it and then the state decides that they aren't going to fund your scholarship after 2 years? Now it's on you to pay for your school..you don't get an explanation, don't get a reasoning, just a letter in the mail saying you owe tuition.

he was never gonna be "the" guy at QB.
You reach that conclusion from exactly what? Did the guy ever take a game snap? I say you don't really know if a guy is a player until he plays in a real game. Some players are gamers. I was floored when I heard Garrett left the team. I don't live in BR, don't go to practices, so I don't know how well (or poorly) he's been doing over the past year or so ... but he was a 4 star recruit coming out of high school. So was Jefferson. So is Zach Lee. Which tells me, recruiting stars mean DICK and I doubt whether I ever follow recruiting closely again, it's all a bunch of BS. I don't think JJ will ever be an all-SEC QB but in the right system w/ the right playcalling (i.e., no options) he can be more than serviceable. I've seen enough of JL ... no thanks. Zach Lee? Who the hell knows? Chris Garrett? We'll never know.

I doubt that kid was bad like some are sayin on here, I saw his HS video, he was a gunslinger, the problem is he couldn't get any PT with the Lee/Jefferson battle going on.

To answer the OP's question, my concern here has nothing to do with how CG was or was not treated (because no one here knows). It has nothing to do with losing a good QB either becuase I didn't expect him to play this year.
The problem is what happens after JLee and Jefferson matriculate outta here. With Garrett gone, our QB in two years will either be a 3rd year guy who may or may not be here (and will most likely be playing basball if he is) or a kid who is in HS right now. This should make us a feel a little uneasy.

cus now people look like idiots for making such a fuss when he didnt get any playing time in the spring game. The few plays he did get he looked like shite anyway. The coaches arent retarded. And obviously our two qbs are really close in the race and miles is going to give it to the guy who doesnt turn it over.

It's the depth, Forrest.

We get this. We are just smart enough to know that somebody who sucks doesn't really provide any depth. In fact, he's just taking reps away from someone else who might actually give LSU a chance to win a football game one day. Assuming, of course, that his scholarship was not renewed due to attitude problems/lack of competitiveness/laziness/etc...
And like I said the other day, our QB position is in bad shape, but it's no worse shape today than it was Wednesday. We are just now more aware of it.

Pure speculation. On both parts, I would say. Having a third QB who knows the playbook would seem prudent. LSu is a bar fight, bad grade, injury away from one scholarship QB on the roster.

I am thinking Bailey would have played over Garrett, and he knows the playbook just as well. Maybe better if he was a harder worker.

Name one team in the NCAA who would not be fricked if their top 2 QBs went down for whatever reason. Most teams are fricked if their starter goes down. We are actually in better shape than most as far as experience goes for the backup. If it gets down to our 3rd stringer, we're pretty screwed regardless. And if Garrett sucked, I don't what difference he would have been able to make anyway.
