Thanks NOMT, good advice, I appreciate the sincerity instead of looking down upon me because I don't have loads of cash to pay for a vehicle I want to purchase sometime in the future.

Honestly, I'm not as gullible as some on this board think, I'm really a tight wad. Like NOMT said, all I wanted to know was if I should act now or wait with the current market situation. But, I got attacks on how I can't afford a vehicle so I shouldn't get one. I'm not trying to say I'm making serious bank, rather that for someone my age, 22, I make a very good living, have no real bills, minus rent, no dependents and don't have any debt whatsoever. I invest 12% of my paycheck into a 401k, pay rent and utilities, limit my drinking/going out spending and basically sit on the rest of it dividing into multiple savings accounts.

You all paint me arse some dumb arse barely skimming along trying to buy a BMW to impress my friends and women.....that's not me. But you know what, take it as you want to see it, I don't give a damn.

I got nothing against you BHP, you're right nothing you posted was condescending in any way, and I understand some of the advice was solid. I'm just clarifying so some will stop painting me that way...

please go look at my posts on the first page. How was that condescending in any way?

Don't be defensive. The advice in this thread has been good and given in a spirit of wanting to help you see your way to a secure, happy future.

We're dickhead here on the MT, and quickly turn on anybody who tries to fight back.

Do a search on "amsterdam."

Eh, this thread derailed into something about how to live your life. IMO that's a personal decision, there is not a right or wrong answer.

Really! Whats the big deal about a damned auto?
What irritates me is that I am seeing conditions now in Fl that have not hit many parts of the country, but they will. Everything around here is down...Everything. Teachers are being let go in droves, 200 special needs kids are being herded into auditoriums with one teacher and no assistance, where those kids used to be in a normal class of about 30. The politicians are already cutting their own salaries because they are afraid to lay off cops and firemen...But, they will soon have to anyway. Tourists are not coming. Disney is not drawing. People are not driving unless they have to. The Canadians are not here because their money have crashed against the US dollar. My neighborhood, where for 20 years hardly a house went up for sale is now full of for sale signs...and it's more bad news every day.

Buying an auto now if it's not necessary for a job is foolish. If anyone believes that they are going to remain untouched by this credit melt down they are most likely going to be in for a shock. No one has a secure job now, regardless of what they may think.

I placed an order on a brand new luxury car last week. I have the money and feel I can afford it. I also will never be in my twenties again to enjoy that type of car.

The herding impulse is based in the amygdala, a part of the brain’s limbic system. It is non-rational, unconscious, endogenously-regulated and impulsive.

When you look at your 'new luxury vehicle' your amygdala will be staring back at you. Why not buy a few dozen 'new luxury vehicles' and you could have an audience of amygdalas looking at you with admiration?
