Damn, UGAZ on fire in premarket this morning

How are you monitoring premarket trades?

Investing.com app and the Nasdaq website

Finally selling the rest of my UGAZ this morning. I bought into energy on the way down back in November and December, after the first dip stabilized for a week or two. First time in the market, learned a valuable lesson of don't try and catch a falling knife. Luckily it was only a small position. I'm taking what's left of my UGAZ and dumping into DGAZ and hopefully turning a quick profit. Guess i didn't learn

Picked up 2100 shares of UGAZ right before close yesterday.
May sell on the open.
May sell on the open.

I might buy some UGAZ this morning, ride it up a few %, then sell it and buy some DGAZ

NG prices keep creeping after every update.
Is it possible we break $3 today??
Currently 2.982

I still have my UGAZ shares dollar cost averaged at $8.05/sh from back in December. Anybody have any ideas of what natty gas prices would need to be to get UGAZ back to $8 or am I just forever screwed here?

Just above $4 but it depends on other factors.

I'm not so sure I'd do that quite yet, unless in "quick profit" you mean a day or 2. NG is on a bullish track right now. When it breaks that trend I'll sell, but it looks pretty strong right now.

Natural gas prices could get back to $4 and your UGAZ could actually be worth less than it is today. Crazy huh?
Most guys in this thread have no clue how UGAZ/DGAZ work and should probably stay out of them. 3x leveraged ETFs are meant for daily positions only. If you hold them for any prolonged period of time, you may find yourself in a world of hurt.
Look at the charts for both of them YTD - DGAZ is down ~30% AND UGAZ is down 9%. That is the nature of extreme volatility and these ETFs...

DGAZ
Bought at 5.65
Sold at 5.80
2.74% profit made in about 15 minutes while driving home from my real job. Time to hit the gym. Today is chest day.

while you're putting it a little harshly, you're correct...natural gas prices and these instruments are not even closely correlated over time.
based on quite a bit of reading I've done, I'm not certain anyone really fully understands them

I'm liking UGAZ this a.m.
Posted on 2/20/15 at 9:56 am to slackster
So if I buy UGAZ at $3 and it goes to $20 in a year am I not making over 5x profit when I sell?
Eta why can't it be a long term investment?

Deterioration risk and being leveraged 3x

Smaller gambles are ok long term. I don't have any idea how much you u guiz are putting into UGAZ to flip in and out of it daily to make it worthwhile.

This topic has come up numerous times in the history of this thread, so most posters that have been here awhile are fully aware the rsiks that are involved with these leveraged etf's. Many have been bitten hard by it too. But yes I agree, some of the newcomers need to study what these etf's actually are and how they work before jumping in. You should be prepared to lose large amounts of money messing with a 3x leveraged etf.
