I had to have a hard conversation with my mother about this over the weekend. I went through the math of how bad things really are and why it means either cut into Medicare/Caid and SS now (along with pretty much everything else, except debt servicing) or they simply go away when the debt crashes the USD.
She's a typical conservative senior who thinks the budget needs to be cut but also with the mindset of "I paid into this so I deserve to get my money's worth back". She did not like the reality so much that she refused to pick and instead just changed the subject.

Was that your mom that downvoted me for asking "what would you cut", lol? The truth is boomers are going to pay for their health care one way or another, either by cuts to entitlements or by inflation. That's just math. People like platitudes but hate the math that slices through them.
