This tells you all you need to know about this guy - Geologist are clueless when it comes to the legal and business side of the O&G industry. Any suit based on a claim of lying and low bunus would be thrown out of court immediately.

Tiger Dog,
As you probably know the well Samson drilled on our land "Muslow 12-19N-15W" did not turn out near as well as the Light #1 which was a CV well, not Haynesville shale well. The Muslow well was considered”Haynesville shale" well. As you probably know the Light #1 was doing 18000 MCFD at initial completion "Free Flow". Since then it has been choked back, the last time I checked. The Muslow Well Initial Production was around 400 MCFD - 500 MCFD. It is extremely lenticular. Last, CHK is drilling another well "Muslow Oil & Gas 22 H, 001" in Sec. 22, T 15N, R 16W; Bethany Longstreet Field; MD 17,300', TVD 11,384', Non-Utilized Lower Haynesville. If you did not know.

Muslow7049 Do they plan on going horizontal on your well, and If have they given you a timeframe of when?

I'm at 32-19-14 so I have been watching this well. What do we take from this? Is the shale thin here? Problematic well? Can this be one of the four corners that has been mentioned?
I'm now watching the various Franks wells? Any info out there?

For Tiger Dog & Bill: I need advice. We signed a lease mid May 2008 along w/ our neighbors.Draft had a clerical error, so it took us 6 wks. to get our money. Got that. Now leasing companies started calling again this morn wanting to lease. I got online w/ Desoto Parish & lo & behold none of our group has a recorded lease. It has been 2.5 months. Is there a time frame gas co. has to record? Is there anyway out of this lease?

No time frame for recording.
If your lease is unrecorded and you lease to a second party and they record their lease then the second lessee wins the race to the courthouse and their lease will prime the first lease you executed. However, you, the lessor, will have breached the first lease and can be sued for damages. The first lessee will of course be entitled to the return of the bonus paid and can and may seek additional damages. In a hot area like the Haynesville where leases are very valuable its more likely that you would be sued for damages.

Recording does not affect the valitidy of the contract between the lessor and the lessee.

Do you have a copy of the lease? Is the lessee oblligated in the lease to provide yo with a fully executed copy? Call the landman and demand a fully executed copy.

I really don't know what is right or legal about this. I just know that we have landmen calling constantly and when I say we are leased, they laugh and say no you aren't. I have an apt. with an attorney

I do and I just told you.

They want your lease and then they are going to run to the courthouse and prime the other guys - they won't have any legal problems but you will. Basically they don't give a frick - their hands would be clean, legally speaking.

Always a good idea to explore your rights.

Wow, whoever leased your land has really dropped the ball. Or else they lost the signed lease... don't think it can't happen! You'd be happy with that, wouldn't you!
I'd definitely talk to a good oil and gas attorney, not just any attorney. Call me and I'll give you my opinion... won't take 3 minutes.

Hey Bill, I just tried calling your 326 prefix no. It isn't working. Should I call the 800 no. I just talked to landman who leased us. He no longer works for the co. Said the co. was responsible for recording the lease. There are about 50 ac. in PRIME area not recorded

If I own 160 acres in Bienville Parish, is that going to pay well? There's oil production on the land right now, I think.
