I don’t really have any suggestions for you other than you may have to start sharing the cost with your employees. Other than that you may look at what type of insurance you’re offering. We went to a PPO/HMO plan where we pay for most of HMO and employee shares like 25% of PPO plan. We found that when they were faced with the decision they mostly chose the HMO. Everyone selected the PPO when we were paying 100% of the cost. We’re looking at doing a captive for our health insurance which basically sounds like we’ll have to do a ton of training with our employees because it changes how you consume your healthcare.
Lastly, I feel your pain…you aren’t alone. There’s a lot stacked against small business owners. Not many people want to help when you’re small. It completely changes once you scale up. At least you’re trying to solve the problem. Keep up the good fight!
