My household spends $100-150/month on beverages alone. Sparkling water in particular at Costco every ~2 weeks.

We were putting a hurting on our budget with sparkling water. I ended up dedicating one of my beer taps on my kegerator to sparkling water. 5 gallons now costs me about 10 cents.

It's down to my husband and myself .. 2 kids on their own and one in college out of state.

We don't come close to $1400 .. but I can't tell you how much. I typically don't buy what I "want" but plan menus around sale meat items. Some nights I cook with the intention of having leftovers either for that week OR for the freezer for days when I work late.

But some evening meals, we'll eat grilled cheese/breakfast for dinner/something supper simple like sandwiches (nof often but here and there).

We are a family of two. Probably $400/month including meat. Eating a lot more pork and chicken now than beef.

Where do you live

Florida & Louisiana, not Sudan. Fresh vegetables, legumes, rice, eggs, cheese, yogurt, potatoes, bake bread at home, not much processed food. Not much meat but some, easy to put together satisfying meals with inexpensive ingredients, herbs, and spices - plus healthy. Load up when discounts come up. Don't eat out much.

ETA: no carbonated or canned drinks, water is good.

I use an app that tracks all our purchases. We aren’t on a budget, but it’s exceedingly helpful to have an accounting of where every dollar goes.

With that said, everybody guessing on grocery bills is low!
