Who's lending right now in BR? I keep trying to dig myself out of some CC debt I got into while trying to find a job after college (2 years ago).
TIA.
TIA.

nobody is unsecured.
only bet is to try a credit union. might have a shot there, but it's going to be tough right now.

Just get a CC with a 0% entry rate and start putting everything on that while paying down the other one as fast as you can. It will save you a little bit.

Why are you trying to take out a loan to pay credit cards off? If you are trying to save on finance charges why not get a card with zero interest for 12 months on transfers and go that route.

Because they just drove all the interest rates through the roof.
I do agree with you, though.

Yeah. One quick search using Mint.com and I was able to find quite cards with 0% on balance transfers. I'm sure they hammer you with interest if you dont pay off the balance before the promotional period is over.

No, it's like a 5% up front transfer fee. They are more than happy to keep reaping ridiculously high interest rates from you once the 0% term is up. There's no way they would discourage you.

Yeah, I keep receiving pre-approved offers with 12 months at 0% for balance transfers, but then they spike up to 24.99% after that. My current rate is 7.24%.
I work in nonprofit and have about $6,000 on my card. I don't feasibly think I could squeeze out $500 a month to pay it off, plus the 5% fee for the transfer.
FWIW, I have a 740 on my credit score...not sure if that would gain me any bonus points with a creditor.

It will probably hurt your credit some, but just transfer the balance again at the end of the 12 months.
