I mean UPS and AT&T are completely different companies. UPS and Fedex are really the only two large shipping companies here in the US. USPS is likely going to be restructured or phased out completely in the next decade or so.
DHL can't operate within the US for domestic shipments.
That's a large moat.

Who would have thought paying delivery drivers 150k a year would be an issue. Plus they have to deal with a union for many of their workers. Sold all my UPS shares and bought FDX .

This is the part that perplexes me. They have union labor and a female CEO yet the stock still tracks fedex. I’d think there’d be far greater divergence in performance.

It’s related to amazon in-sourcing shipping/delivery, no?
UPS actually went to Amazon and demanded that their partnership be redone. UPS asked Amazon for a pullback, and Amazon agreed. Amazon gets such cheap rates from UPS, and uses so many resources, that it is more profitable for them to reduce operating costs and ship fewer Amazon packages.

I wonder if some on the other board applaud this as necessary.
There are some who actually think firing people is a good thing. I kid you not.

Interestingly, we have only had an issue once. But I read a lot of people have delay issues.

made no sense to think they could then retain all those workers that were happy with the newly negotiated union contrac
You think that’s who’s being cut? There is a lot of fat in management in that company.
Still projected at 97 Billion in revenue. The union is pushing those boxes make no mistake about it.
