I think it's good that he gets 9 days rest.

Rafa could probably use a couple of days to get some rest for Paris. Props to the young gun. It would only be fitting if they play the final of RG.

I still don't understand why this thread can't simply be changed to "The 2017 Federer and Nadal Thread". It's been said that other forums usually devolve into constant GOAT discussions, but I really don't see any difference here. I mean, Nadal just got knocked out of Rome, and the discussion is still about him instead of the remaining players. And the next week will be more of the same until the RG (which should be called RN) thread is started.
Even when they retire, nothing will change. Any new players will be constantly compared to them. I get it. I see it in NFL, NBA, and even with college football coaches. If you ain't the GOAT, you are nothing. It's the age we live in thanks to all these useless debate shows.
Like I said before, I'm fine with it. I have no problem going over to Twitter or TennisAbstract to get the info I want on other players. It's just the whole "How come nobody wants to participate?" that doesn't make sense to me.
I can't speak for everyone, but there's only so much that can be said about the top players. There was a Pelican fan who posted here for a while. He said he followed the Challenger tour. I thought that was sort of cool, but he probably got turned off by the repetitiveness.
Would it be better if I just made a betting thread? I'm sure I would be the only one posting, and I'd probably give up after a few weeks, but it would keep my Non-Fedal thoughts out of this thread. Any other ideas?

I used to think I would lose interest in the sport after Agassi retired. I did for a while, but then Fed/Nadal happened. Even though I am a Fedtard and don't really enjoy Nadal's game, Nadal saved the sport in a lot of ways. This, with Djokovic, is the golden era. It will never be the same.
On edit, I just need a young guy to break through to get excited about #nextgen. I realize you want discussion about other guys, but you won't get much of it, even at a huge forum like Talk Tennis. Pride's relationship with Harrison is really cool; I wish the kid was more successful.

Again, I'm not arguing that. In fact, I agree with all of it.
Maybe call it the "Tennis GOAT Debate Thread".

Who is watching this Novak / Delpo match?

Not me... I won't be involved.

You bitter about something?
Posted on 5/19/17 at 5:09 pm to MidnightVibe
Well, one has a GOAT forehand and the other a GOAT return of serve, but I don't know if that's enough to meet the criteria for being worthy of discussion. Is there a rules section for stuff like this? This is giving me a headache. Can we just talk about Rafa?

Your rant would make more sense if it had come in the midst of a GOAT discussion.
But it didn't. So you just seem weird.

Cracka is getting emo on us. I don't think there is a poster in the tennis threads that doesn't love Delpo. We all recognize the awesome force of that forehand. We just know it will be near impossible for him to run off seven wins in a major due to fragility issues and no aggression on the backhand.

Nothing to do with Delpo. In fact I probably like him the least of everyone here.
And of course he's not a GOAT.

I'll be watching this on a loop until the draw comes out for RG.

I'm starting to like this a little. You can root for one of the best players in the game, and feel a bit of joy every time he wins a match, which happens over 90% of the time. It's like playing a video game and choosing the best team every time. Not sure why I never thought of this before.
