"All I can ask from the American people is to judge me from this day forward".
Yes, that would be convenient, A-Rod.

he should have answered that question to some affect like
'what person in their right mind would admit something like that when there are millions of dollars on the line'
why doesnt everybody who has ever driven drunk go admit it to the government and bear the punishment to the fullest extent to the law?? because that would be retarded, just like it wouldve been to tell the truth

That sounds like something a politician would say

I didn't realize that he was forced to appear on 60 Minutes, or forced to mouth the flat out denial that he had taken steroids.
The things you learn.
Posted on 2/17/09 at 1:40 pm to MStreetTiger
So put yourself in his situation and, hypothetically, you did steroids.....
why just come out and say it when you've pretty much been told that test results will NEVER be publicized?

So he only had two choices, Prom? Flat out lie or "just come out and say it". Please.

by doing this he is saving his career. yeah it will always be with him, but stats are stats, and he was better before and after the roid years. minus the 51 homers a year during the needle days

you're not answering my hypothetical question. what would you have done if you were accused of steroids without any proof behind it?

I would NOT go on 60 Minutes and flat out lie about it. It's quite simple. I would not talk about it, period.

he was approached about subject. So you're telling me you would take the same approach as Mark McGwire? Not say anything and admit your guilt with silence?
Posted on 2/17/09 at 2:04 pm to Prominentwon
There's a difference between 60 Minutes and testifying in front of a Congressional investigation.
He put himself in this situation. If people are going to perceive silence as guilt, he has only himself to blame. That doesn't mean he is forced to compound it by lying.

Hank didn't even sit at the front table with Cashman and he left before the conference was over...probably it was T-Time. This so-called press conference was over before it even started. Not allowing follow up questions or anything. Can't contain this in some neat little box and gift wrap it to the public.
As Yogi said..."It ain't over til it's over" and this is not over.
