I've been a raider fan since the days of the mad bomber and billy cannon, it's a shame that rappers and thugs thought it was cool to wear raider gear.

So Oakland may have a chance to be good again?

I bet this guy was a huge a-hole.

I think we can all agree that Al had gotten quirky in his old age. I was impressed though when they said at the hall of fame ceremony a few years ago that Al had presented every Raider that had gone in. Someone must have like him. Don't know any other owner who can say that.

In his day, the smartest, toughest, most ruthless knife fighter in the league. And most people forget he once won the AFL Coach of the Year award.

The Raiderfan and Christian in me says Thank You, RIP, and Godspeed to Al, for Raiderball from it's birth to the early 1980s..

The modern day Raiderfan, and failed Catholic in me, says it's about time Tales From The Crypt Guy lost his iron grip on the franchise.

Absolutely. I'm old enough to remember the days of Lamonica & Stabler throwing bomb after bomb after bomb.

He was a pioneer.

All he wanted to do is win, at any cost, great owner. Just held on for 10 years too long.

They'll embalm his body and stick it in the luxury box. I'm sure the people of Oakland are devastated.

I really wish Al Davis had bothered to murder Lane Kiffin before he parted from this world, because no one hated Lane Kiffin as much as Al Davis. He was a former coach of and big fan of USC as well, to where he was probably more pissed off than anyone that Kiffin became head coach of USC. If Al had done this, his legacy as a great man would have been completely assured, but instead he dies with a controversial one.
