re: Any Braves fans still want to extend Heyward?

I'd still love for the Braves to extend him... just not at the ridiculous rate a lot of Braves fans tend to think he's worth. 15+ mil was a figure a few folks suggested... and that's was just crazy.
Sure he has potential to be a 15+ million dollar outfielder down the road, but you don't pay a premium price for a player that may or may not ever get there. Something less than Andrew McCutchen's extension wouldn't be a bad risk/investment for both parties.

AGreed. But you know damn well Heyward is looking for Freddie Freeman money.

Too bad Heyward isn't Freddie Freeman... definitely not as good. But I'm sure there will people chiming in with irrelevant stats to correct me.
Freddie Freeman is another Joey Votto. Jason Heyward is still looking for an identity.

People around here will tell you he is in the Otis Nixon, Ricky Henderson, Kenny Lofton mold.

I know WAR isn’t absolutely 100% all the time, and I know some people think it is a total waste. I also realize that Freeman is on a definite upswing in his career, while Heyward can be kind of up and down.
All that said, Heyward has put up more than double the WAR so far in his career as Freeman (16.2 vs. 7.6) in nearly the same amount of PAs.

This is why Heyward's agent will demand Freeman years and money, even though WAR, though not a total wasted, is inherently flawed.
I'd guarantee that most, if not all GMs would rather have Freeman than Heyward in their lineup.

Going strictly on hitting I would imagine so. Once you factor in postional value, defense, baserunning and upside, I'm not so sure of that.

I'm 2 for 2. I trashed CJ, then he got a HR. I trashed Heyward, then he got a HR.
Let me try again:
Justin Upton is a waste of talent. All those tools and just pathetic showings for it.

I've been off the J-Hey Train for two years now. Real talk.

Yeah, because 1 good game against the sorry mets totally wipes out years of inconsistency.
Again, I am not giving up on Heyward. I am merely saying he hasn't earned a Freeman type deal like he wants.

he has been better than Freeman throughout his career except for last year.

Yet the club chose to extend Freeman.
