BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Enjoy starting Cody Ransom in that $100 million infield.

To add a little insult to injury, I heard yesterday on Fox radio that someone quoted ARod saying that he would prefer to play with Jose Reyes to Jeter at SS? Why on earth would he even say that? Go ahead and think it, but why say it?

The whole situation has just become batshit crazy/funny.

No, that's not what he said. though the NY media loves to make a story. He was being asked about Jose Reyes and then he told a reporter...

quote:

“I wish he was leading off on our team, playing on our team,” Rodriguez said of Reyes, who hustled to take an extra base in the fifth inning and then stole third and scored in the Dominican team’s 10-1 win over the Marlins. “That’s fun to watch. Anytime you have that type of speed… I mean, we have a guy in (Brett) Gardner that’ll be fun. That’s probably the most you can have, watching those guys run.”

That quote says nothing of Jeter. Who wouldn't want Jose Reyes on their team? And how controversial is it to say that its fun to watch Reyes run?

LINK

But it is pretty funny. The NY media can spin anything A-Rod says to be a negative. He could say he is quitting baseball to work fulltime to help the homeless and will donate all of his slary to charity and the headline would be "A-ROD QUITS ON YANKEES"

well, when you want Jose reyes 'leading off' and playing short on your team (unless he's asked to move to 2nd)(which wasnt even brought up), when AROD is asked to answer that question, even if he's answering it in his special sort of way, isnt it implied in the way he answer it that by saying 'I wish he was leading off on our team', he's saying he wishes he was also playing SS?

So kind of by default that means he wishes Jeter isn't playing SS? He doesnt have to explicitely say that to get a message across.

Its not that difficult to read between the lines.

You dont need the NY media to spin that one for you.

I think that's a reach. Reyes is his teammate that had a big game and the reporters wanted a quote on the game and A-Rod talked about how awesome Reyes is.

Jeter doesn't leadoff anyway, and I'm sure if the Yankees signed Reyes, they would move Jeter to another position. I think its only between the lines if you're looking for it.

But I do think it is funny as hell. I love how much the Yankees hate each other and how much the NY media hates A-Rod. It's beautiful.

Interesting...I would believe that anything is possible with that situation.

The fans in Fenway will be pissed though...there was a big party planned for April 24-26...that will have to be put on hold for a while.

Cashman just said they will opt to rehab as opposed to surgery. Lowell went the same route...

Lowell had surgery (to repair a tear in his right hip and a bone spur) the day after the ALCS back in mid-Oct and has been going through rehab since then.

Alex Rodriguez has a torn labrum in his right hip, but the Yankees think he can avoid surgery. A cyst in the hip was drained Wednesday, and the third baseman will miss the WBC. Yankees GM Brian Cashman said if surgery is needed, Rodriguez would be sidelined for four months. "If at some point it's not working and it's a problem, then the other one becomes more of a choice," Cashman said Thursday. "Right now, the route we're going is conservative." Cashman said if Rodriguez is able to play, the three-time AL MVP might have offseason surgery to repair the labrum tear. Cashman said Rodriguez's preference was to try rest and treatment first. "We're collectively trying to figure out what is best to do," Cashman said. "We don't want to rush into it. We want to digest it." Cashman said the team hopes the cyst was the cause of stiffness that had bothered the 12-time All-Star and caused him to see a specialist, Dr. Marc Philippon, in Vail, Colo.

espn just said he was going to miss the first 40 games at a bare minimum, so he could be right at 50.
Im now convinced that he got suspended after that closed door meeting with the MLB investigators.
up until last week, he was going to be playing in the WBC, then he comes out of that meeting, and he is hurt and shut down for 40 games? i dont buy it
