we are talking two totally different things
i actually agree with you on enjoyability of watching a game
but for trying to actually win the game...the analytics are correct but yea its not that fun to see so many strikeouts
but also pitching has changed so much that you cant really string together a couple singles to win games.
but I do agree many times we are over thinking it big time and many players lack the ability to play a team game. moving the runner over or laying a bunt down against the shift are smart plays that still play in todays game and its certainly a lost art.

Williams was not in dead ball era. It ended in 1920.
