By rule, the game is not official until all reffs leave the "visible confines" of the court.

what kind of fricking rule is that? if anything let the next team they play shoot free throws to start the game.

I cant remember specifically but I want to say it was Delta or McCall or one of those schools way up in the corner of the state

someone else may know the answer

eta: "mr reff, why are we starting the game shooting FTs? did something happen during warmups?"

"well coach, we had an incident in last week's playoff game and we have to punish them this week so you get two FTs and the ball"

Good thing your not an official. And these are not judgement calls people. Its a rule follow it. I bet the kid was pulling off the jersey to swing it around like most of the people that annoy you do after a close victory.

wow, that is terrible

Dude, it was the right call.

It's a sportsmanship issue. I can remember playing in a junior high game, and I guess the rules were for no dunking or something, but we played a team from Texas with this HUGE guy, and he was dunking and showing off in the warm-up.

The referees T-ed him up and we shot 2 FTs BEFORE THE OPENING TIP.

Now, I will say that it's a tough call to make when it's going to decide a game, but there are more sportsmanship rules below the collegiate level.

I understand it's a tough call. But for those that think this was a bitch move, what do you say if the same technical was called earlier and the same team still loses?

Are you outraged because of the rule or because of the time it was enforced? Be honest

valid point, but im sure you have made statements before while watching games ending and saying, "you dont make that call right there"

a few questions:

1) was the player from Mcmain in the game or on the bench when this happened?

2) when you say he "attempts to remove it (his jersey)" what do you mean? was he on the court trying to take his jersey off?

3) had Mcmain been warned about the jerseys coming untucked before?

Oh no doubt. But that is more of a gut reaction, and say you hate to see games "end" like that. But I think I wouldn't be as outraged if this were to occur earlier in the game and have the same result. People who make remarks about the referee making that call, don't know what goes into officiating a game.

a hand check foul on Nova 75 feet from the G-town basket in a tied game with 1 second on the clock and G-town in the bonus

ah. ok. See that, I can do without. Games get physical in situations like that, but that is strictly a judgement call. I would probably let that go unless there was a better angle from the ref's point of view.

70 feet from the basket, gt has the ball and the nova guy is playing tight defense, he shouldnt have been that close

anyways, the ref called a block 70 fet from the basket, and gt hit the fts to win.

and yes, it was a timing issue, not the call. its not like it had an effect on the outcome
