Jocketty probably letting his Sandy vag ove Luhnow get in the way of the best deal.

Maybe they wanted someone like musgrove and martes and lunhow valued them too much. If I had to bet I would say both or atleast one was involved in talks. Let's see if we get melancon or Giles now.

It could be a preference of someone like Grant Holmes over Appel and Musgrove.

I'm more intrigued by LA reportedly not giving up top 3 prospects but I'd still rather go for someone with a few years of control if we are gonna ship multiple top prospects

Are Miller and Melancon being shopped simply because the RP market is so weak? Surprised NY/Pitt would be willing to deal them at all.

Sources saying no deal done yet for #reds and #dodgers on Chapman. I'm hearing multiple teams could be involved.

Not sure if that means multiple teams involved on Chapman or multiple teams involved on the Dodgers/Chapman trade

Howsabout Dodgers trade Grant Holmes to Cincinatta for Chapman, Astros send Vincent Velasquez to Cincy, Dodgers send Jansen to Houston. The Dodgers essentially get a prospect by keeping a guy they already have by the Astros sending Velasquez to Cincinnati to offset the Dodgers cost of acquiring Chapman.

@JoeFrisaro
Teams that appear to have enough for an "over pay" on #Marlins Jose Fernandez: #Dodgers #Pirates #Astros #Cubs #RedSox

Luhnow would have to bend over and let the Marlins trade rape us for that to happen.

Well, Luhnow did violate the Marlins on the Cosart trade so maybe not.

Miller because he's on a good deal and Yankees need young starters. Mark because he's getting too expensive.

Latest update from @mlbtraderumors

quote:

-The Astros “have remained interested” in Yankees closer Andrew Miller, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports on Twitter. It remains far from clear, of course, whether any team will be willing to offer enough to get New York to part with the outstanding lefty, though Houston certainly has the young starting pitching coveted by the Yanks.

-As has seemed apparent all along, the Astros are continuing to cast a wide net after apparently missing on Aroldis Chapman. Per Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com (on Twitter), Houston is “looking” not only at Miller but also Mark Melancon of the Pirates. And Drew Storen of the Nationals might feature as a “fallback option,” he adds.

-While the prognosis seems promising, it’s worth noting also that Astros set-up man Pat Neshek just underwent foot surgery, as Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Neshek was forced to pitch through the injury last year

Sherman just said on MLB Network that he thinks it would take McCullers, Appel, Reed and Bregman to get Jose Fernandez.

Words cannot express how much I would hate that.
