Phillies are in a strange spot. Giles is inexperienced overall with tons of talent. If they keep him for 2016, he will only earn saves for a bad team -- how much pressure is there in that? I think they realize his value cannot go up unless he is pitching meaningful games, and that is not happening in Philly for quite a while. That's why they want to deal him right now.

Drellich: Sources say Gomez, Springer, Vince Velasquez drawing interest. Cubs like Gomez. Astros talked to CLE about Carrasco

I had wondered about Bregman at 3B
Would love Gomez plus some prospects for Carrasco

I can dig that. Carrasco can be filthy and unhittable at times. His contract is through 2018 also and has a team option for 19/20. Wonder what CLE would want in return though, seeing as they have a more polished Springer in Brantley.

Makes sense.
Names fly around everywhere at this time.
Hell, Freeman was being tossed around last month. Doesn't mean much

There is logic to at least listening about George. The market is full of good OF free agents right now, and George could bring back a big time pitcher as a good cost. I am not saying I want him traded at all, but it makes sense to listen.
If you trade him for a stud pitcher and then sign someone like Heyward, it doesn't seem so crazy. But I am not advocating it.

Agreed.
Like anyone interested in making money says....
EVERYTHING I have is for sale.
What are you willing to give me for it?

The Astros are also getting inquiries on their outfielders, baseball sources said, and are said to be open to moving George Springer — if the haul is big enough.

Just heard on ESPN radio Baltimore is offering C Davis a 7 year, 150 mill deal... God I pray we stay clear of that. It reaps Carlos Lee 2.0 to me.

And people thought I was crazy when I said he could be a trade piece if the return is right.

I'm all for trading gomez. Not springer. That would be stupid.

Agreed. A Springer trade would have to bring in a huge name with team control for a few seasons to not have me really pissed off.
Posted on 12/9/15 at 3:03 pm to rlebl39
Springer has basically played 1 full season in MLB with the two freak injuries costing him a half year spread over 2 seasons. His numbers if put up during 1 season would be MVP worthy...not to mention his elite defense and his role as emotional leader. And he's cheap as shite.
Posted on 12/9/15 at 3:03 pm to rlebl39
Yeah he would have to be the centerpiece of a blockbuster major league talent coming to Houston.
