White is the king. He's pwning.

Jon Singleton is 0-for-2 with two strikeouts today. He's struck out 11 times in 22 at-bats this spring.

Will Big Jon make the 25-man roster?
Not just no. FresNO.

I'm pretty sure they're setting us up for Singleton to break camp as the 1st baseman and get a month or so to start hitting. He's the guy getting paid, he's on the 40, White and Reed are not and they almost certainly want to keep Reed down for arbitration purposes.
~It was Singleton's job to lose going into the spring.

Sounds to me like the plan is to use Singleton as a place holder until it makes financial sense for them to call up Reed. Singleton is penciled in for a month and they hope to get a bonus of him hitting.

So he's gone from wanting to narrow down the competition by Mid-March to waiting until they break camp.

"The at-bats are going to start to dry up with the competition," Hinch said. "Middle of the month becomes key. I've sort of circled a three-game homestand in the middle (March 15-17). … We're going to need to figure out if there's a leader in the clubhouse and start to hand some at-bats to those guys. But … until somebody really takes a step forward, we're going to continue to try to squeeze 'em all in there."

We're going to see all these guys take a lot of at-bats. I think we learned last year and in years past, some guys get off to a good start. But really, by the end of the 30 (exhibition) games, it sort of begins to reveal itself a little bit more. I'm happy with the way it's going. We've got good options and we've got multiple options, and I also don't feel like we have to have a final answer opening day. Our first baseman opening day may be different than our first baseman on May 1 and on June 1

"It's nice to get the results, but there's a process in how they're going about it -- the swing mechanics, the defensive footwork, some of the intricacies of the positon that we're paying attention to," Hinch said. "The guy with the highest batting average isn't going to necessarily win the job. It's a more thorough evaluation than that."
quote:
"Ultimately, I'd like somebody to take the job. That doesn't have to happen until we break camp. The competition is going to be very thorough and the attention as it gets closer to the end of camp is going to be magnified a little bit, and it generally starts at the end of the month."

It may be more like, White is the opening day 1B with an eye towards his becoming the DH when Reed comes up.
Posted on 3/12/16 at 9:54 pm to Jwho77
Gotta think White will atleast DH if gattis isn't back if they're gonna force Jon on us

Maybe I'm overly optimistic but White keeps starting when the regulars start, hopefully the FO starting to lean towards him in the competition

Well, down goes Stassi.

Astros backup catcher Max Stassi flew to Houston to be examined by a hand specialist after suffering an injury to the hamate bone in his left hand, manager A.J. Hinch said Sunday. Hinch said Stassi would see a doctor on Monday and is expected back in camp in a couple of days.

Damn. The Fist had a great 2 innings and then got shelled in the 3rd.
The starter heavy lineup also isn't doing much. Altuve and Springer with hits to start the game and nothing since then.

Tyler white just keeps on hitting. It would be criminal to not let that guy break with the big club.

They follow this with a 5 run inning.

There's a whole lot of sexy in that lineup.

Either he's one of us or our message has spread.
Did you check out the guys profile though? Everything he tweets or retweets is about White.
