Let me preface this with I in no way want this to happen before people overreact

But I wonder if there is any thoughts going on in the FO that the market for pitchers is way too high and that maybe we should sign Encarnacion as well and try and go full Orioles (or 2015 Blue Jays) for a postseason berth

The question is if we are done with position players who takes Center? And Archer or Sale??

I think we'll trade for a starter, I think the moves today pulled us out of the Edwin sweepstakes, if we were even serious bidders to begin with.

CF would be Jake/Teo

And that spot in the lineup all of a sudden becomes way less frustrating when surrounded by better hitters who can walk.

It is just maddening when there was 4-5 hitters like that consecutively at the end of the lineup

The top 4 in our order could be one of the best in baseball next year. Gattis-Gurriel-Reddick is a solid 5-7.

Another possible positive outcome of this...

There will be significantly less (if any) pressure on Reed and White compared to desperately needing them to be a big bat in the 5 or 6 hole last season. Maybe that will allow one of them to relax and really take over 1st base for the future. Who knows, but it's possible. And that really applies to any young inexperienced guys that make appearances next season

You bring up a good point. Reed definitely can be the First basemen of the future. Just has to relax and play his game.

For what it's worth, I think Teoscar will be a solid player. I don't think he's a hole

Yeah I'm not sure. I think we will once again have a very fluid lineup since Gattis/McCann will split catching time. Not sure what the most common combo next year will be. Maybe Gattis-McCann-Gurriel-Reddick 5-8 to split up the lefties.

I think Aoki will play a decent amount too

I think Springer to CF could be a real possibility. Reddick in RF with Aoki/Teoscar/Jake in LF. We have built really good depth. Happy with Lunhow but hopefully we aren't done yet.

Agreed, if he makes some positive strides this upcoming season we will be tough

Nice moves today, need a LH reliever and a front line starter now

ETA: Also, McCann had to waive a no trade clause to come to Houston so maybe the whole "guys don't want to play here" thing is over with

NEIFI Analytics tweeted this: With the additions of McCann, Reddick, and Morton, the Astros are now projecting at 95.50 wins in 2017.

No, I haven't heard of them either and am very aware it could be some dude tweeting from his moms basement...but I figured I'd pile on the good vibes from today

Yeah you guys seem down on Reddick. I like him. As long as he's healthy, he can hit .270-.300, and be a great defensive outfielder with a great arm. Plus we got him at a very reasonable price. I really like the Reddick signing and like I said earlier, I like the McCann trade too, especially since we didn't give up a lot.

Obviously we need to trade or sign for a good SP, but I'm kind of curious if we keep trying to sign/trade for more offense, or if we're content with where we're at. I'd like to get Beltran too since he can provide good veteran leadership which is what we need.

What would you have paid them? These are pieces they are signing now. I don't know if you have noticed, but every signing in the offseason will be blockbusters.

It's about the 20 million they won't use to grab a true impact guy. They will say "see we are spending millions now! Can't get everyone"
