Do you by any chance own a truck with an LSU plate that has "Ryno" on it? If so small world.

Nitkowski and Duquette on MLB Radio say Astros should trade Bregman to get Sale.

That would be stupidity. You don't trade elite long term talent like began for a pitcher who may be decent for 2 or 3 years. The variance in pitching success is far more volatile than proven hitters.

I would have loved that move for the Astros at the deadline last season... not so much now.

I'll take 6 years of Bregman + whatever else we'd give up (Martes, Tucker, whatever) over 3 of Sale

Of course, I agree.

I think Ted Tucker, Martes, Reed and Jabroni could get you most of the way to Sale.

Sale is only one 28 and is way better than decent

Just an update for those who don't follow MLB very closely during football season

This should be another very quiet week with not much action around the league in terms of transactions. Right now everything is on hold and we are waiting for the CBA deal to get done. I believe the current deal expires Thursday (Dec 1).

If a deal gets done, the winter meetings are scheduled to begin 1 week from today (Dec 5). That would officially get the hot stove fired up and you'll start to see lots of moves being made

HOWEVER, Buster Olney tweeted this today:

quote:

Sources: Club officials understand that if sufficient progress isn't made this week in CBA talks, teams won't participate in winter meetings

So let's hope they buckle down and get shite done this week! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving

The union has never cared about non union members so just give the owners an international draft in exchange for removal of draft pick compensation and a higher luxury tax threshold

Poor Chris Carter, non-tendered two years in a row.

The Astros were serious bidders for Yoenis Cespedes. Execs/agents expect the Astros to continue pushing for upgrades.

Just heard the #Astros are still a potential option for Edwin Encarnacion

Cespedes would've opened the door for trading Springer for an ace IMO

Just like we (at least the intelligent DATers) said would happen. Luhnow and Crane weren't just going to blow money for the hell of it.

We are a couple of pieces from being legitimate World Series contenders, so the time has come to spend.

I'm starting to feel like maybe they're just trying to load up on bats this offseason with how weak the pitching market is. That scares me a little but does make sense.

It had to happen. They wanted to see if 2015 would lead into even better in 2016 organically. It didn't. Time to spend.
