There are a few derby horses already there. Maybe they are going to try to use the "not used to the track" excuse for his loss?
I wish they'd all get there early. I like to read how they handle the track before making final selections.
Latb, I will not be giving you the tri this year :( not feeling very confident in any of them right now

He is shipping mo there because his base is there during the keeneland meet. He wants to watch him closely. Aspercal, does your son train?
Posted on 4/10/11 at 12:47 pm to Bho
My son is the horse
and I'm retraining him, if that counts
the bf is an assistant trainer

How many hands is he. Looks big?
Posted on 4/10/11 at 1:35 pm to Bho
He's tiny, but he's grown a little since I got him. I sticked him the other day at 15.2
he thinks he's big and bosses around his much larger pasture buddies :)
and back on topic...
I may end up using a bluegrass or Lexington horse this year

Smarty Jones was the best horse of my lifetime, by far.
This is laughable.
Not only was he gorgeous - he beat them like a drum. What an brilliant athlete - and he came along at the perfect time.
I saw him at Claiborne Farm in Paris, KY. When they pulled him out of his stall, I thought I was gonna die... unbelievable specimen.

a few updates going into this weekend's prep races:
the field for the Arkansas Derby has been set. and it's a monster. there are about 8 of these horses who have a legit chance of crossing the wire first.
if I were betting right now I would go: W) Sway Away, P) The Factor, S) Caleb's Posse
also this week, Uncle Mo's camp put out press releases that their previous Derby favorite horse is battling a gastrointestinal tract inffection:
Mo still on Derby trail despite illness
Also, the other big race to watch is the Blue Grass Stakes. Santiva should be the big favorite here and also take home the money. here is the Brisnet PPs for that race, which is not very deep.
Finally, news from Mucho Macho Man (who finished third in the Louisiana Derby) had a workout last Saturday where he ran a 5-furlong drill in :58.20 at Gulfstream.
that's quick, folks. he looks like he's coming back nicely from his minor hoof injury.

After undergoing a battery of tests on Monday, veterinarians concluded that Uncle Mo had a gastrointestinal tract infection, according to a press release issued Thursday morning by owner Mike Repole and trainer Todd Pletcher.
"The vets also concluded that Uncle Mo is perfectly capable of returning to full training while the treatment continues," Pletcher said in the release. "He will ship to Churchill Downs on April 18th and will have two works before May 7th. If I do not feel that Uncle Mo is 100 percent for the Kentucky Derby, both Mike and I agree that he will not run. My main focus is to return Uncle Mo to optimum health in the next 23 days, and I am optimistic that we can accomplish this goal."

I'm going with Alex, Factor, The Bretheren, and trifecta box them

Pants on fire worked a fast one too!
I knew the mo camp would be grasping straws
and I am NOT betting the arky derby because I am lost. I'll be cheering for archarcharch and sway away and hopefully able to pick up 3g where I'll be at a bridal shower.
As far as the bluegrass goes, I guess I'm supposed to like santiva because I love causeway, but I'm secretly cheering for wilkinson because I fell in love with him in the paddock of the 2 fairgrounds races he was in.
R2r, you have mail

I would agree if I wasn't born in 1980. Therefore I can't use him as the best in my life.

As far as the Arkansas Derby goes, I am secretly hoping The Factor BLOWS this field away. Don't get too excited about a horse blowing out a 58 in 5 this close to a race. Normally a trainer would want something 1.00. The good horses in this crop could all blow one out in 58 if they wanted to. I will be heading about 3 miles out to the Bluegrass today. Last week the track has been speed biased, however the last two days, they have been flying from the back. So I expect that trend to hold and I'm going with the other son of the Iron Horse, Crimson China. I love his style and Garcia has been winning some races up here. In fact he is the leading rider as of now. I look for Santiva to hold on for place or show money and Napravnik's horse to close out the TRI. I will take none of these horses in the Derby.

nice
good info on Crimson China. he's already won and showed at 1 1/16 and 1 1/8 which is good to see. i might put down a small wager on him. maybe trifecta box Crimson, Santiva and King Congie (he's won 3 straight on turf).

My boyfriend LOVES me right now. I demanded he bet arch, and after watching the post parade I had him drop the factor for sway away. He hit the exacta, and had sway away held third he'd have had the tri for $3!!!!!!
