It is a stupid question to ask though. So you aren't allowed to laugh or smile when you're losing bad? That's the time that you need that.

OMG a player smiled when they were losing, he obviously doesn't care. It's a joke that the NFL forces these players to do post-game conferences. You then have a guy like Steve Johnson, who probably already hates his life having to play on the Bills, and make him feel even shittier for a mistake he knows he made.

I wish they could show the people who were asking the questions and realize they have never played anything form of organized sports outside of the YMCA leagues

I've got no problem with players smiling or laughing during a loss. Sometimes you've got to laugh to keep from crying but Anderson obviously doesn't know he was caught on camera laughing it up. His denial isn't going to help him

I think its a fair question to ask when you played like tee tital dogshit. You didn't see Stevie Johnson yuckin it up. There may be a reasonable answer, but still a fair question

Well he told the reporter what him and Deuce talk about is their own business. He answered the question yet he agitated him by constantly repeating his question

frick that reporter. I typically don't have a problem with hard questions, but this guy is clearly hiding behind the situation. Absolute shite.

I only wish Anderson had taken it further.

Can NFL players be fined for leaving the press conference early? I know this might be a stupid question

Then ask a question about the game, about his performance on the field. It was a stupid question and he only made it worse by constantly repeating it

I'm happy that shitty question produced that hilarious moment.

But I hate when people try to make sweeping judgments/assumptions/declarations about teams/players because of body language.

And it's lose/lose for players. You sit and sulk and everyone says you are lifeless and don't care. You try to relax and laugh, then you don't care and aren't taking it seriously.

It's just a case of the media over examining every little thing athletes do.

exactly. this isn't police questioning. You don't hammer someone like that, especially for something that trivial.

No it's an interesting question

When did the requirement for players begin? It existed for coaches in the '90s -- I remember Cowher wasn't going to answer questions after one game until he was reminded it's in the contracts of all NFL coaches.

Terrell Owens also tried to get out of a presser after the Saints game in Buffalo last year. That's when I learned the requirement had been extended to players as well as coaches.

Maybe he shouldn't have kept repeating, but you have to ask that question. You don't see Brady/Manning/Brees/ any competitor laughing when they're getting their arse handed back to them. They would be livid

I didn't think it was a bad question. If Derek would have said something like, "look, I was upset. I wasn't happy. But I needed to just take a breath and get a laugh to let out stress", I think that would have been OK. To just deny it didn't happen was a bad decision.

Brees

I've seen Drew Brees jog into the locker room laughing after a loss. Funny things happen in miserable situations. Doesn't make anybody unprofessional.

It's ridiculous that scrutinizing their every move on the field and out in public isn't enough and we are now monitoring their sideline facial expressions.

I guess you'll all be happy when football players are replaced by automatons.
