This and he doesn't have to put up with the bullshite anymore since he's not coaching because that's his career like he was before he took over the State Farm branch.

Toxic travel ball parents become toxic HS parents...
I've witnessed some ridiculous actions by parents in the last few years around baseball fields.
I've always believed that sports prepares you for later life. Parents who act like this are preparing their kids for failure later on. Or, on second thought, they are actually NOT preparing them for inevitable failure and the ability to react to it.

Coach Almond is 100X the coach any of these AAU yahoos are. But you hit the nail on the head with your statement. Today's kids are only looking out for themselves, the TEAM is not important to them. EA had the best basketball coach in the state, key word being HAD.

the turf battle between AAU and HS basketball coaches right now is insane....
hard to deal with toxic parents when they have kids in same grade with your kid.... or even when it's close
toxic parents have caused the resignation of 6 good coaches this year.... not just baseball.
whatever happened to parents helping to leave a program better than they found it....
heck one of the most recognized names in BR tried to bully a well known HS coach into giving his kid more PT.. but the coach stood his ground...

I know very little about hoops... but I do know Kenny Almond is an outstanding person and coach. I know many folks that played for him that would give him a kidney or lung if he needed it....

It's not travel ball...
It's the elite sports mentality some parents carry
And they survive in that level by bullying parents players and coaches
HS you can't change mid season so they stuck. They fester worse

What is the big deal about travel ball that is running off coaches?
1) parents invest so much time, money and effort into their kids athletic development that it creates in them a wildly unsustainable level of expectations for the kid and the HS coach to live up to
2) HS sports are such a huge business and under so much scrutiny from all angles that coaches are forced to spend 10 months out of the year working with their team and so the burnout rate is very high
3) some parents dont have a sense of boundaries any more and think nothing of confronting a coach in a very inappropriate manner. if they dont get what they want they have no problem confronting administrators and raising all kind of hell
4) the information age has made everyone an expert with the confidence in their expertise to exert their will on others
