The joke in this thread is how underrated Brees is IN this era.

He's averaged almost 5000 yards and 36 TDs per season with no real superstar receivers like Moss, Welker, or Gronk. You could say Graham was great but it is obvious now who was the driver of his success.

To put it in perspective: Brady has only thrown for 30 TDs or more 6 times and over 4800 or more yards 4 times in 15 years. Brees thrown for 30 or more TDs for eight straight seasons and 4800 yards or more (assuming he has a sub par last game) 5 straight seasons and 6 of the last 8 seasons.

Everybody knows how good Drew Brees is. He's a slam dunk first ballot HOF quarterback, nobody other than the most hardcore anti-Saints people would deny that.

As great as he is, he's not in the discussion for best QB of ALL TIME. I don't care what his stats are, they don't tell the whole story of quarterback play in the almost 100 year history of the NFL.

Saying he's somewhere between 10-20 all time is very high praise. Comparing him to a guy like Steve Young is very high praise. I don't know what you're bitching about.

I personally think he's around 8-12 all time.

Kinda like McCown stepping in and throwing for 300+ yards and hit on 80%+ of his passes?

Under a non-Brees QB the saints have a 68% passer rating over the last 10 years.

Under a non-Brady QB the patriots have a 85.2% passer rating over the last 15 years with a "yearly average" of 4500 yards and almost 30 TD passes.

Stats prove Brady is a system guy.

Give Brady, Manning, Favre, Marino, etc 650 attempts every season and see what their stats are

Brady has averaged almost 600 attempts a season (excluding injury year) since 2007.

ETA: Same for Manning

ETA2: and Marino from 1984-1994

ETA3: and Favre has the most attempts all time by a mile

Peyton is the GOAT....

but if he is now done, and Drew keeps up this outrageous passing for another 3 or 4 years, I agree with the OP.

Funny how everyone else glossed over the 15 years of proof Brady is a system QB as opposed to Brees

How about give Brady a minimum of eight indoor home games a year and let me know what his numbers would look like.

The indoor outdoor thing is overrated. I remember Peyton having slightly better outdoor stats during his time in Indy than indoor stats.

Stop confusing your favorite player (i.e. Kobe, Brees) with the greatest of all time. It doesn't work that way.

Which website are you using that lets you focus on his time in Indy, and not include the Denver years?

I guess no one is going to chime in on the fact that any scrub over the last 15 years (WRs/Kickers/RBs included) could step behind center with the Patriots and put up numbers similar to Eli Manning?

Indoor Arena-ball attempts that Brees has thrown in this watered down two-hand touch league...

DOES NOT EQUATE to Marino attempts.

Marino in the dome with no wind and patty-cake defensive back rules would have been declared the greatest of all-time.

Brees should have done more in his era and his home-field advantage and current rules and protection.

But he's a short dude with an average arm who would have been killed in the 80's.

Don't ever compare him to the great Marino or Elway who are 10x better than Brees could ever be...and don't count numbers...and passing yards...everyone knows that today's numbers are like the steriod era in baseball - they don't mean shite under Goodell and concussion-less football.

Elway TEN TIMES better than Brees will ever be?

Elway barely ranks top 10 among his own peers statistically

...oh nvmd, you're right, I looked it up - Elway finished with 750,000 yards passing, 5000 TDs and a 95% completion rate

Cam is a better QB.

But I would still take Brees over Ryan right now, so there is that.
