I'd go with Brees for the reason that the Saints don't have an established running game. They're running plays right now are swing passes to Bush. So it's going to be on Brees, and you're right he's going to look for Shockey. Manning on the other hand has Jacobs to pound it, run the clock, and carry a load. Giants gameplan will always be stout D, running game, game management. Manning will be good but I don't think he'll put up Brees type fantasy numbers.

To trade or not to trade

I give

D. Garrard
W. Welker

for

S. Holmes
E. Manning.

At WR I have TO, M. Clayton(Ravens), R. Brown, and W. Welker.

I want to get rid of Welker and E. Manning is definitely an upgrade, but S. Holmes is a big gamble.

Any thoughts?

Henderson or Patten to replace Colston?

I believe I have Bowe on the bench in this league, or should I just start him instead?

I might go with Warner.

I am in a similar situation. Brees vs Wash or Rodgers vs Lions? Leaning towards Rodgers against a poor Lions D...

I am not sure why the other guy is willing to go for this, but you should do it. Garrard's line is in complete disarray. I like Jax before the season, but there are serious issues. Eli, however, has fewer issues and just as many weapons. I know Holmes was absent this week, but Welker was, too, and now Welker has to rely on Cassel to get the ball to him. I predict that Cassel will favor Moss and Welker's receptions will suffer.

I like this trade. Go for it.

I wouldn't drop Colston. I would pick up Royal without dropping Colston if you could.

Should i start both Tony Schefler(sp?) and Brandon Marshall?

Donald Lee is my other tight end

I have Colston and Royal, so I'm familar with both situations. I am going to bench Colston and wait the injury out. I believe that the Saints will score many points this year. Colston will be back and will benefit from the score early and often offense.

I think Royal will be fine, too, but the star in Denver will be Marshall. Do not think for a second that Monday night was a preview of what we'll see from Royal all year long. He will likely have more good games, but he's not Colston.

Here is my advice, if you have room on your roster, keep Colston. If you drop him, someone else will pick him up. I have seen it happen a bunch of times. Deion Branch, Chris Henry, and even Bobby Engram were drafted in my league and none of them will be on the field for a while. Surely there is some other bench warmer you can cut loose in favor of Royal?

Interesting question.
First off, don't expect the Merriman-less Chargers to lay down like the Raiders did. Merriman's loss is likely to fire the team up.

Secondly, even if the Lions rise up and improve ten-fold, my highschool still had a better D.

Third, I usually don't like to have multiple players from the same team unless I can get Manning, Wayne, and Addai, or maybe from a few years back, the Rams' Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, and Torry Holt. My point is that I hate for one weird game to ruin my fantasy hopes that week. What if Cutler gets in a wreck on the way to the stadium and you don't find out until it's too late to change your roster.

Fourth, I didn't look at Lee's stats. If he was in the game and catching balls, I'd go with Lee.

See my post above re this week's game against Denver. My thought is that they'll be fired up and over achieve a little in this first Merriman-less game. Plus, the Broncos won't know what to do when a real defense lines up on the other side of the field. All in all, I think the Chargers are not as good without Shawn. Maybe they aren't number one anymore, but they are still way better than a bunch of other Ds (Lions, Cardinals, Raiders, etc.).

You are about to violate another one of my fantasy rules-never sit your stars based on match ups. You don't sit LT when the Chargers play the Vikings. I wouldn't sit Drew Brews even if the Saints were playing the '85 Bears. Rodgers is marginal at best. He'll look like a top ten against that Lions D, but Brees will still look top 5 against Washington.

Sitting a player because of match ups applies when you're trying to decide whether to start two marginal players, two equally decent kickers, or you have a chance to play the defense that's playing the Raiders.

Well, I wouldn't do that just yet. The Giants have pass rush issues, remember? If you've got two defenses now, do you really need to drop one? I almost never have this issue because I wait until the second to last round to pick a defense. Ironically, my defense-the Panthers-got me a touchdown this week.

I agree with this. Manning is fine, but he's kind of like Troy Aikman was a few years ago. The Cowboys won a lot, and everyone loved Troy, but he put up horrible fantasy numbers. Plus, as I said a few posts up, I wouldn't sit a fantasy star like Brees against anybody.

You seem pretty experienced at this. I have two questions. My running backs are Steven Jackson, Michael Turner and Forte. Do you even think about sitting Jackson against the Giants D?

I had Colston, Wayne, Coles, and Ginn as my receivers. I dropped some Ginn and some other players to pick up Matt Jones, David Patten, and Courtney Taylor. Who do I start with Wayne this week?

These are two tough questions. Under normal circumstances, I would not even consider benching Jackson unless LT and AP were my other choices. Unfortunately, I didn't see much of the Rams game this weekend, so I can't really comment from personal experience.

But don't expect Turner and Forte to keep up the same pace all year. Forte did look good, but that passing game was deplorable. And LT didn't get that much against the Panthers D. Atlanta plays the Bucs. This is not guaranteed advice, but I'd sit Forte and play Jackson and Turner.

Well, you might have asked me about Matt Jones earlier. There is really bad news in Jacksonville--they have no offensive line. I don't know who will be playing in front of Garrard, Taylor, and MJD this week, but I doubt they have five games experience between them. Don't look for Jacksonville to improve until things settle down there. I'd go with Patten for sure. I know he didn't catch much last week, but he did get a touchdown and people aren't likely to double team him with Reggie lurking around.

As for Courtney, you know that's a girl's name? Did you also hear that Hasselback had an epidural before Sunday's game? Let's see, Hasselback is hurting, Morris is out, no Branch, no Engram, no Bloom, the running back is Julius Jones, and the most promising WR has a girl's name. I'd stay away from the Seahawks unless they play Notre Dame. Even the 49ers will know how to stop this group.

Anyone playing Salary Cap Football through Yahoo? And if so what are your thoughts on Matt Cassel at $1.16?
