Yeah.. Deron Williams is better

Williams is a much, much better jump-shooter than CP3.
Chris Paul is shooting 49%, Deron Williams is shooting 46%

Williams is much more versatile, so much so that it's not inconceivable he could make a successful switch to the shooting-guard spot as he ages.
The only thing that would make Williams more versatile is his size, Chris Paul is a better shooter, passer, rebounder, better at getting steals.

quote:he is correct in that assumption, Williams is the better outside shooter with more range, I'm not knockin CP3 because I'm a fan, but he's more of a set shooter that shoots when in rhythm.
this guy must not watch either of them play much

Chris Paul is shooting a higher percentage from the field, he's also shooting a higher percentage from 3 and just for shits and giggles, he's shooting better from the free throw line. I fail to see how this makes DWill a better shooter.

CP3 is having a banner year my hat is off to him, but reread what I said, he is a set shooter that shoots in rhythm, Williams is the better shooter because he is a natural jumpshooter with way more range.

I don't see how that matters. Chris Paul is creating his own shots and shooting a higher percentage from everywhere on the court while averaging more assists.

quote:it matters when assessing who is the better shooter from the outside like this guy is sayin, but fwiw, I think CP3 is the better overall PG.
I don't see how that matters.

I'll take the shooter who creates all of his own shots and is making nearly 50%.

We shouldn't even be entertaining this idea, really. CP3 proves in his game that he is the superior player, not what us or some dolt on Fox Sports thinks. Let's just say that these guys can go on all they want about who's better, but I challenge them to find one Hornets fan who would agree to this trade.

In the Olympics, when teamed up with the best players in the world, look who was on the court making plays in crunch time and look who was on the bench cheerleading.

when you look at that side-by-side comparison, I don't know how any argument can be made the other way right now.
And hell, if you could do the same for last season I bet it would look pretty similar as a comparison.
This dude for Fox is simply projecting long-term based on CP3 losing quickness and therefore losing his whole game - not sure I am into that subjective reasoning

Rosen really does hate the Hornets/CP3. More than halfway through last season, with Paul averaging around 20/10 and a PER amongst the top 5 in the NBA, he said Paul needed to put on more muscle if he wanted to be in the elite group of PGs with Deron and Nash (!!). He also said the Hornets would have to play perfectly and the Mavs would have to have a bad series for the Hornets to win. (as if the Hornets stumbled into the 2nd seed)
Also, the DW being a better jumpshooter is FALSE. They are very close and both great, but Paul has the slight edge. Surprisingly, Paul has been the 5th best jumpshooter in the NBA this year:

I could care less what they think. It is a fun argument, but i do think that CP is on a much less talented team.

i know man, i don't know where the writer or the poster in this thread are getting that from. williams was the superior shooter when they both came into the league, but paul has greatly improved his shot and surpassed williams. there's a reason that paul is shooting better from the field, the 3, and the free throw line this season

CP's record against DWill is 2-10.

What does that have to do with who's better? The Hornets don't match up with the Jazz. In a 7 game series, the Hornets have a better chance of beating the Lakers than they do the Jazz.
