Parenteau and need to get Pernell to quit acting like he is an enforcer.
Pernell is a skilled blue liner with an attitude. But he is not Bob Probert, Kelly Chase, or George LaRoque. He needs to QB the PP and be solid.
I am happy with Eller and Gonchar.
I still think going to the Diamond with Pernell at the top with Markhov and Maxi on the sides with the Gallagher and the Little Elf in front of the net would cure the PP.
The Elf is such a gamer and willing to mix it up with anyone, despite his vertically challenged and weight challenged stature.

Yeah they call that the Umbrella on the PP.
Subban at the center point
Max & Markov at the wings
And Gallagher and Desharnais cleaning up the rebounds
It will generate a lot more point shots for Pernell for sure. Not to mention, Max is deadly shooting from the wing.
ETA: and since you mentioned Gonchar, I love what he is doing with Beaulieu on that 2D line. For Nathan, that's like playing shifts with one of your coaches

Think the Ducks would trade Heatley?
They are even with 5M salaries and age (Heatley is year older).
Just as long as they do not make a Tomas Kaberle type trade. That along with the Jocelyn Thibault trade were god awful.

Ottawa Sun is reporting that the Canadiens are looking to acquire a Defenseman. Either Myers from Buffalo or Yandle from Arizona may be on the radar.
Please do not do this. Yandle will take at least 2 players and a pick. The draft is LOADED this year, no reason to deal a pick.
I like Yandle, but if making a deal get a Winger.
Plus when Parenteau comes back it is like you are making a trade since he has been out for a month now.

You are right Yandle isn't the guy you make a trade for looking at a deep playoff run. Seems to get pushed off the puck a lot to me and a lot of games won in the playoffs come from along the board.

Vermette to Rangers?
I am not sure what Arizona is doing except dumping everyone.
If they think the Oilers are going to allow for McDavid or Eichel to end up in Arizona they are crazy.
I know this sounds crazy and stupid, but if I am Edmonton, I take Eichel over McDavid. I think McDavid would get buried under the pressure of being the next Gretzky.

I like the DMen we have. And I disagree about needing a winger once Parenteau comes back and considering Galchenyuk is back on the wing. A center would be nice...
Plekanec
Eller
Desharnais
Malhotra
Bournival
if we could move one or two and bring in a decent center man, we would have 4 really good lines. Eller, Desharnais and Bournival probably need to stay. And Malhotra is a great faceoff man. I'd see what we could get for Plekanec

If Doane was dangled I would give up Pleckanek, Malhotra, and 2 picks in mid.
I think Doane would be worth it. I also think he would sign long term.
There is a report out that the Habs want Greene from the Caps.

They're either expecting Gonchar to not last til the end, or banking on Beaulieu not being ready for the pressure of the playoffs.
One or the other. That's the only reason I could possibly see them going after another DMan

I think it is the later. I honestly believe Gonchar can hold up through the entire playoff run.
What I am concerned about though is them wanting to trade within the confernce. I just do not like that.
I think it will be interesting to see what Arizona and Winnipeg does after the Flames catch up to Winnipeg.
I think my wish list is this:
Doane (will not happen and price way to high)
Heatley if available
Glencross
Ryan
Yandle

Time for the Kings to kick into playoff mode #GOKINGS

I love Glencross. Really underrated player.
Brutal weekend for the Caps. Two games, 1 point. Both losses by a single goal. February is a real difficult month, schedule wise, so they need to get some points and hang near the race.

He had nothing left in the tank last year. Still glad he's gone.

okay boys, second half predictions:
Most interesting race: Metro division. Pittsburgh is going to turn it on in 2nd half and give the Islanders a run for their money, and then for the 3rd slot, the battle between the Rags and the Caps.
Surprise teams of the 2nd half: Senators and Leafs (in a good way)
Surprise teams of the 2nd half in a bad way: Tampa, Florida. Tampa will end up a wildcard team.
Blackhawks will finish the Central division on top, Nashville 2nd, and St. Louis 3rd. I don't think Nashville can continue the awesome at the same level but will make it to at least the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Kings will get into the playoffs, but not from great play, rather but Winnipeg will suck in the 2nd half, allowing the Kings to get in by doing what they've done all season.

You have a lot more confidence in that happening than I do right now, we fricking suck and have for a month. My only hope is getting Malkin/Ehrhoff/Comeau back here this week/after road trip and finally being fully healthy we'll start to click again like we did most of the season.

Not going to argue there
2 games v Edmonton
2 games v Ottawa
3 games v Columbus (although they've been injured - I'll still take Sid+Malkin over Dubinsky and co)
2 games v Philly
Add Buffalo, Arizona, Carolina, and Florida to that mix as well. I think if you average out the ranking of opponents the pens remaining schedule it's something like 18.

Ummm...that's the Metropolitan Division
Atlantic Division is a 3 horse race with Montreal, Detroit and Tampa Bay

Meh, fixed it.
Atlantic division will be dominated in the 2nd half of the season by Montreal, hands down. Detroit and Tampa will have shitty 2nd halfs relative to what they've done. Just a hunch. Montreal is way too good not to run away with it. They are so balanced it's rediculous.
Tampa gives up way too many goals.

If we (Montreal) can get our Powerplay going we could be damn good.
But I'm not ready to count out Tampa yet.

Pretty good slate of games this evening.
Stars / Avalanche: Fate of both teams is fading fast. Every game matters for these two.
Wild / Blackhawks: Wild can pick up at least a point here if they don't suck. Pretty much have to win almost every game if they want to make the wildcard and they've won 3 straight.
Caps / Kings: Both are battling just to make the playoffs right now. Kings need it more, as the Caps are really battling for the #3 slot and will likely make the playoffs regardless. The Kings need to actually step up if they want to win this one.
Tampa / St. Louis: Kind of my point earlier about Tampa playing a more difficult schedule down the stretch. Tampa is average on the road. Putting my money on St. Louis.
