And in those 200 more games, Vizquel had 1000 FEWER chances.
So Omar played in 200 more games than Ozzie but you are saying Ozzie had 1,000 more putouts than Omar.
Ok, I need a link for this one.

Ozzie played before they juiced the ball and took steroids.
Shortstops and 2nd basemen were more valued for making plays in the hole and turning double plays because scores were more like 4-3 or 3-2, not 6-5 or 5-4 as they are now.
Did you study to see how many runs his defense saved ? If that study can't be done then there is no way you can understand his value in his era vs. this era.

always jumps out is Troy Aikman. His SB stats obviously put him over the top, but his TD/INT ratio is pretty awful. 165/141

Asking because I don't know: Ozzie played his home games on turf. Does that or does that not inevitably make fielding harder?

What are just the putouts for each of them?

It gives cleaner hops but comes faster. That turf at StL was green cement.
Also the play Ozzie made in San Diego as a rookie tells you why he is considered the best I will try to find it and post it.

Assists are more important for a SS.
Total Chances - Put Outs - Assists
Vizquel (11961 - 4102 - 7676)
Smith (12905 - 4249 - 8375)

Looking back at his stats, I didn't realize how patient Smith was at the plate. His career .337 OBP is actually not too bad.

No one ever claimed Ozzie's offense was good(he hit 8th for a good portion of his career). What people claim is he's the most athletic and he had the most range of any SS ever and that is true. Although I think range is a bit overrated at SS(give me the guy with the superior arm). And had the best longevity of any SS.

I see him pretty consistently listed as a top 15 QB when he's not even top 25

You aren't winning this debate. You're ignorant when it comes to baseball. Just admit it.
