Sorry, he has actually made Blake Griffin a decent offensive player. Before he got there it was just dunks. Now it's dunks and alley oops

Is that why Blake averaged more points his rookie year without Paul than he did the last 2 with Paul

There was better parity for one. The Bulls, Pistons, Knicks, Lakers, Suns, Spurs, Sonics, Pacers, Celtics, Rockets, just off the top of my head, were all really good teams. The Jazz too.

LOL what? The Lakers or Celtics were in every single Finals for the entire decade

Not sure if you realize, but this thread is about the 80's and 90's. Your comments suggest you are confused about that.

People have a completely backwards view of the the NBA in the 80s. There was no parity or defense being played for that entire decade.

I'm not sure if it's directly related to Salary Caps and Free Agency, but Teams were able to keep their starting line ups for 3 to 5 years. The Celtics and Lakers had basically the same Rosters for 5 or 6 years.

I think you could tie this thread to the Charles Barley AAU thread. Fundamentals were better.

LBJ isn't the best defender at his own position, much less the entire NBA.

I honestly think some of you have never seen a 80s basketball game in your life. Defense was completely non-existant, 115-110 was the average score for a game between 2 good teams

You're thinking of the late 70's early 80's NBA. Most people here are talking from mid 80's into the mid 90's.

83-98 was easily the best era of NBA basketball. Easily. Nothing before or after will ever compare.

Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, Nash, Isiah, Stockton, Oscar Robertson, Magic, Marbury, Dennis Johnson, Hardaway, Iverson, Bob Cousy and I am sure I missed some.

Where do you see CP3 just at his position?

Oscar and AI were both twos. Chris Paul isn't better and never will be better than Stockton, Magic, and Payton. Those 3 are the best PGS to ever play the game. I'd still take that dickhead Thomas and Kidd over him. I laugh at any fool that would take that defensive liability Nash over Chris Paul.

Blake Griffin was a 20-12 All Star guy before Chris Paul. Paul's arrival has hurt his production more than helped it.

Defense was completely non-existent in the 80s. You simply haven't watch a game if you think otherwise

In 87 the last ranked offense was the New York Knicks who averaged 104 ppg. In 2013 only 3 teams in the NBA scored more than 104 ppg

and FYI Gary Payton and Mutombo were drafted in 90 and 91.

Jesus son. You've never heard of pace apparently. Pace + better shooters = more points.

Learn something before you run your mouth.

Not even close son. Not even close.

And yes Thomas was a dickhead. There's a reason why no one on the Dream Team wanted him there. He was a douchebag of the highest regard.
