I did win money with them that year they played UNC for the title game at my Dad’s work. This was before you just filled them out online in a group and had to actually handwrite your predicted winners. I liked Dee Brown, I wonder what he is up to these days? I had UNC over Illinois in the final. Boom. Money. Whatever the payout was seemed like a huge deal to me as a middle schooler.
That was also Illinois’ only loss that year. They went 37-1.

UGA is the most underachieving for sure. They've only won 5 NCAAT games all-time.

For those in the SEC and not aware of our Yankee ways, the Mizzou - Illinois “Braggin’ Rights” BB series has been a border war in STL. every December since 1980. Always a great game and spectacular atmosphere.
Hating or loving Chief Illiniwek was a great tradition, one that was performed at Illinois until someone ruined it after 80+ years.

Illinois can either be really good because half the roster can just openly tell each other what to do in some random Eastern European language and no one on the other team can figure it out.
