Personally I would like to see Houston get rid of Yao. But that is a different story because he is basically just an albatross at this point.
I'd like to see us dump Yao and go for some second-tier backcourt stars like Jason Richardson or somebody.

The only teams that didn't really have win with a superstar besides the one you mentioned was the Sonics team that won near the end of 70's. Though i'm sure Peej will bring up the great team effort that 47-48 Baltimore Bullets used to win the BAA.(Kleggie Hermsen only shot .277 from the field and got 1 apg, but he wasn't a hog like Bron was
)
You have to have some transcedent talent to win. If the rumors about the new CBA being more favorable for teams to keep talent by being able to pay more than free-agent destinations, then the Pacers have to try to draft and trade well. But they are a playoff team, so drafting is pretty much a crapshoot at that point.

Look at the Cavs when BRON was there. basically a one man team. didn't win shite.
Fantastic point. They destroyed the league without him this season. I'm sure New Orleans would be much better without Paul as well.
It doesn't "work both ways." Pretty much every title team has a star. Hell, almost every Finals team has a star. You cited the Nuggets as an example and they have a good shot at getting swept in round one.
The Pacers need to keep acquiring assets so they can trade for a great player. They are a nice team but I can't see them ever making a whole lot of noise with that core.

Am I crazy...or do they have a pretty decent, young nucleus for the future?
nah, ppl have been saying this. great decision to fire Jim O'Brien when they did. they've got a ton of cap space this summer. not sure what FA they'd use it on, or that they should. might wanna wait and see what's there in 2012. or use it in a trade like Memphis did with Z-Bo.

either gone as a FA, or back at way less than what he makes now.
