This is probably circular logic, but the Raiders paid him all that skrilla to be just that, also his first 3 seasons (particularly 2016) with the continuous development and improvement in performance inspired the franchise QB notion and justified executing that extension deal

He’s about as competent as you are going to get on most teams. Getting someone better likely requires a massive trade or picking early in the first.
Oakland’s got so many holes right now that I wouldn’t blame Carr for their woes. I’d be more likely to blame the GM or scouting department for whiffing on prospects at other positions.
