This was an intriguing fight. Wonder if we see this in the future...

Kayla can't make that weight. She damn near killed herself last time. UFC needs to make that fight at 145 and make a 145 division again o showcase Kayla because she has no business being at 135. It will likely kill her if she does it too many more times. She is also the entire future of women's UFC because they have no one else that marketable. And no, a 110lb Chinese girl that has more male hormones in her than a 19 yr old frat boy from Ohio, and a Russian spy are not marketable. At least Kayla finishes fights, unlike 99% of the other female mma roster.

And For reference, Kayla fought at 155 for PFL. She said she hadn't been 135 since she was 16 before entering UFC.

And Re-book this fight at the White House at a catch weight and call it the womans BMF or something fake and made up if Dana doesn't want to budge on the divisions.

They said Kayla had to have surgery to repair herniated discs in her neck. That sounds awful--if you've ever minorly tweaked your neck or your back, sometimes you can hardly move, turn your head or get out of bed without severe pain.

They said recovery is 6 months, so rescheduling this fight for the White House sounds ambitious.

Didn't realize we were only about a week out from UFC returning, for some reason I thought it was still two weeks away.

Rooting for Gaethje. But Paddy is crafty, not a pushover.

Paddy is much bigger than Justin, and he's a great grappler so he'll probably try to muck up the fight a bit.

Those low kicks from JG could be a big factor though. He can basically take out your leg in 2-3 kicks. Very interesting and fun fight.

UFC wants nothing more than to have Paddy as the champ, I'm sure.

I mean that's all good and all, but that's not why it was cancelled

I was surprised, they had a faceoff already and Gaethje looks almost as tall as Paddy. About an inch short from being eye-to-eye. But maybe shoes change things up.

Yeah, I think maybe Gaethje was bothering Khabib with those leg kicks. I think he was leg kicking him when Khabib lunged in for the final takedown before the end.

YouTube recommended the Gaethje-Poirier fight to me yesterday. Shocking that Poirier got caught with that head kick. Wonder if he'll try that against Paddy.

I bet Paddy is watching the Charles and Khabib fights against Gaethje. See if there's something that Gaethje does where Paddy could get him into a quick submission out of nowhere.

Also wonder if Gaethje will do those elbows to the forearm that Yan was using on Merab. I think everyone will be using those going forward. Have to say again what an amazing fight performance from Yan. I complain all the time about guys getting held down, Yan cared enough to practice perfect takedown defense and getting back up a hundred times vs. Merab. Then unleashed full violence standing. All-time performance.

I've seen several weigh-ins where fighters drain themselves so much to make weight that they need to be helped to the scale and look like they are going to fall over just standing there.

That is insane to do that to your body.

Pro boxer and multiple division champion Roberto Duran would balloon up in weight between fights. When he was fighting at Welterweight (147 lb. limit), he would often blow up into the 190's between fights.

As he got older it got to be too hard for him to drop that much weight and from the onset of his pro career until his retirement he went from 110 at the start of his career to over 175 near the end for fights.

Too bad because she sounded jubilant on Ariel's show to show off the hard work she put in for this fight.

I know the herniated discs were the stated medical issue, but I wonder if they couldn't at least make this a catchweight fight in the future--especially if Nunes has no plans to defend a belt if she wins.
