You get my email? Add stately victor to that list. This derby is IMPOSSIBLE for me

Don't know why you trust me
I'm doing something with lookin at lucky, super saver, ice box, Dublin, paddy, awesome act, and I may ever throw in stately victor.
I can't really encourage the Dublin bet. He either shows up or he doesnt

You still are liking Looking at Lucky? I cant do it at all. I think last Derby fav I took was Fusiachi Pegasus.
I am still staying with what I posted earlier.

Super saver is the fav right now

I might just get sick right now. At the time I placed he was 2nd or 3rd choice.

This is not pertaining to the derby, but in general every day horse betting what is the best way to make bets that will give you a good return on investment. I often find myself wagering like $25 on a race and getting a $29 payout. Not very good. So do you bet a few exotics, stick to w/p/s, etc?

I usually take Place Show wagers and not go with favorite for payouts.
I never go exotics, except for the big races. But if you want to make money start firing at favorites you generally come out ahead in the long run.

So you are saying just bet a couple of mid price horses to place/show?
Posted on 4/30/10 at 8:11 pm to Steve Langford
That is what I do, because more money bet on a horse lesser the payout is.
Are you placing bet for whole program or just single race?

Not talking about tomorrow, but if I were planning to sit down for a day and bet an entire program I guess is what I looking for advice on

Take the favorites then and fire away, you wont win a ton of money but you will get small payouts. If you want higher return take 2nd 3rd favorite place show them and get payouts.
There really is no sure science about it. I got my strategy from a trainer that isnt very big time but is knowledgable.
I stay away from DD, Trifecta, Exacta, Supers etc.

Bout to get blown away in a tornado but I'll give my best.
I rarely if ever bet a heavy favorite, just not worth it. I do like to take a favorite and two mid price horses that have a chance and put a 3 horse exacta box. With me it just took learning how to read a form, learning what jockey/trainer combos work etc.
Of course there isn't any set way. Theres a way to have fun at the track, bet some favorites and your favorite name, and then theres those out to make a buck which takes skill and of course lady luck.
I'll be back to talk some derby if power is still on, the sirens are blaring and the wife is looking at me with flashlight and pillow in hand ready for the hall closet.

I do a lot of exacta boxes with three horses. That usually how I make my money. If I really like one, I'll wps as well. Usually, I only bet if I'm at the track and can watch the horses in the paddock

right now i'm leaning towards super, with ice box and stately and vice versa, depending on weather. I've eliminated Awesome Act if it's raing and bumped Paddy way up for the same reason. Waiting on the weather, but like you so far i've got so many little bets in just because i'm lost. This one has been the toughest one since i've started.

I like the 1 on top of 13, 14,17. Well at least for now.
