I hate when stupid shite happens, and this is stupid shite.

Then again, I should be happy, as he may get a chance to rehabilitate his image in New Orleans for the 2011 season...

They were going into that hearing today to allow a judge who went to Baylor to decide whether Leach was going to coach on Saturday. Any time you walk into court, it's a crap shoot. The way to eliminate the risk for Tech and to make sure that the judge didn't decide who their coach was--fire Leach. I'll bet Leach and his lawyer didn't see that coming when they filed the suit.

Good point, hadn't thought of this angle.

I thought it was just an injunction to allow him to coach the game, not a full-on lawsuit against the university?

I'm actually pretty sure that Mike Leach's retarded brother is on this site.

And I mean that guy is a goddamn retard. I was on another board five years ago, and he was pimping the shite out of Mike to get hired by LSU. He threatened to sue me when I said that Leach was basically 5% better than Hal Mumme.

That's true...so far. By firing him TT raised the stakes.

And Leach and his lawyer absolutely knew the firing was coming. That's why they went before the judge - they had nothing to lose.

There is no such thing as just an injunction. I know this because this is the kind of law I practice. You must have a lawsuit against the person you are asking the court to enter an injunction against. I guess I'll walk down the hall and read the petition myself. Back in minute.

Leach's all time percentage -- 66.1%. Mumme's all time winning percentage -- 37.7%.

What he means is that Leach was simply asking for the injunction, and no monetary damages as of yet. But now he will be asking for $$$

Basically this. Leach fricked up by going to the courts and over the head of the AD and the school president. They can basically spin this as "Coach Leach refused to adhere to the administration's decision regarding the suspension, so he was terminated for insubordination."

Apparently Leach's contract allowed him to be fired without cause, so it's not like they had to show insubordination. If they did have to show good cause, an employee exercising his lawful right to resolve a dispute in court is probably not going to qualify as "insubordination." The AD seems to believe he's king shite of f mountain here, but even he has to follow the law.

He had a guest role on an episode of Friday Night Lights this season. IMO if coaching doesn't work out, he could always go the acting route.... or weatherman.

Well, the dude who has it is in a deposition, so I can't get it right now. He's a Tech grad and used to work for the judge. I don't know what the cause of action was. Seems like it would have to be a breach of contract because a violation of due process is normally what is called a "1983 claim," and I don't think that fits this case.
