i have no doubt that the rocket's GM morey would take lebron in a second, which makes this argument pretty funny IMO

I'd say he's easily top 5 and probably top 2.

He is easily the best player in the league. I don't think there is anyone close at this point.

GM Poll

Not trying to take shots at anybody in this thread, but from what I've seen casual fans and people who only watch sportscenter highlights tend to favor lebron, while GMs and other players in the league still favor Kobe.

I think that vote would have changed by now, seeing what LeBron has done so far in the playoffs.

Trust me, I love Kobe. But what LeBron is doing right now is just stupid.

even as an LA diehard, i'm beginning to have my doubts. just plain soft and play with no emotion or urgency, that's not how you win a championship.

even though i think the Rockets game 4 win was an emotional knee jerk to losing Yao and everyone thinking the series was over. Teir emotional roller coaster will come to a screaching halt in LA, but still, Kobe and crew need to get there shite together. I got a feeling even if they do make it to the championship, a championship hungry lebron is going to run through them.

Did you read that little article that you posted? The preference was based on the past, and on the perceived (and faulty) notion of "clutch".

he's putting up numbers against vastly inferior teams, no team that they've played in the playoffs so far would even make the playoffs in the mighty west.

I think that would be a pretty safe bet.

wasn't that a van gundy quote? he's not even a GM so his vote didn't count.

plus he coached the Rockets before, the Rockets are currently playing the Lakers in the western conference semi's, so of course Van Gundy has nothing good to say about Kobe...

Stomping inferior teams >>>>>> Gutting it out against "good" teams

While this article uses football as a reference point, the principle can be applied to other sports, as well: LINK

Boom, when Lebron has his ring and runs through these Bitches in the West will you finally acknowledge his greatness?

If LA had played Detroit and Atlanta, they'd be 7-0 too.

his individual numbers are insane though regardless of how bad the teams are. after the hawks series ends tonight, i'd love to see someone like hollinger compare his numbers through two series to all of the historical numbers. if not the best ever, they'd have to be extremely close.

fwiw, the hawks also gave dwyane wade fits and lebron is ripping them apart with ease.

he is great, but he's not the greatest...there's nothing wrong with being the 2nd best basketball player in the world.
