Why couldn't they just give Winnfield a State Championship Trophy every year and leave the rest alone?

So in that case would it be the #6 vs. #27 seed, #7 vs. #26 seed, so on so forth? Will edit the OP when I get to a desktop later on.

Looks like Ouachita will travel to Barbe in the 2nd rd, not good for the Lions......how the hell did Barbe manage an 8 seed? I thought they were the team to beat in 5A

Don't see how EA makes it to Parkway. Very misleading 3 seed without the heart and soul of their team.

EA definitely won't get past West Monroe.

Dutchtown may not get past Mandeville in round 2. They won't get past Destrehan.

St. Amant draws Parkway in round 2 if they beat ESJ.

Could be another disappointing postseason in Ascension.

That is some pretty watered down brackets.....the best games will definitely be in the select divisions. I'd imagine it will be that way forever.

Although I suppose Winnfield may get their title this year...so there's that.

There's a 5a select game tonight. louisianasportsline.com has projections if Shaw wins and if Holy Cross wins.

I know 5A a little. I follow a few teams. The semis will almost likely be Acadiana/Destrehan and Parkway/West Monroe unless something like a crazy storm happens like the semis night like 3 or 4 years ago. That's not much of a stretch. I'll go Destrehan/West Monroe in the finals.

As far as non select goes, 5A is the only one that really grabs my interest. Gonna be some damn good football in the semis/finals

How does Mandeville feel about having to play 8-2 John Ehret, who has an absolute beast at running back in Darell Williams, in the first rd??

All the talent at South Plaq came from Port Sulphur. Boothville, Buras, and Phoenix were door mats for PS, losing by over 70 points multiple times. Even without the combination of schools Port Sulphur would've won state in 07 and 08. What's really crazy is that the MVP of the 07 5A, 4A, and 1A state championships were all from PS.

True, but didn't this give them more depth than any other 1A school?
