IMHO it's because the Astros fielded a decent team for several years in a row (Killer B's era) versus a much more inconsistent product from the Rangers.

ETA - Most folks I grew up with were Braves fans because of TBS, with a smaller number being Cubs fans (like myself) because of WGN.

red sox are the most popular down here by far....and this was even before they won their first world series this decade. ive even seen purple and gold red sox hats.

Dodgers fan here, for 30 years..

I don't hate the Astros or Cubs, but I really grew up hating the Braves because they were always on TV. Either TBS or the game of the on saturdays..

Thank goodness for DTV MLB Package.
