Using different branding for academia and athletics really isn't that uncommon.
I didn't watch the broadcast either, I was at the game.

that probably sounded funny in your head

What do you have to do to deserve the nickname Jenn? Is there a ritual?

What are the other schools who use different names athletically and academically?

They have two monikers, yes.
Do they distinguish one for athletics and one for academics, though? If so, I've never noticed that.

University of Texas at Austin - Texas
University of Mississippi -Ole Miss
University of California, Berkeley - Cal
Plenty of them.

I still say Louisiana College should change to Louisiana University

That doesn't matter at all. The point is that plenty of schools brand themselves differently when it comes to sports than they do on the academic side of things.

I guess I see what you're saying, but I think this is sort of a putting a cart before the horse situation. All those places were "branded" by a longstanding public usage. ETA, not via a letter from their SID.
I don't care what University of Louisiana (Lafayette, or otherwise) wants to call themselves. That letter was downright goofy, though, if not a bit embarrassing.

quote:All the other schools cited have more or less been branded by the rest of the world with the names they use. UC-Berkeley calls themselves "Cal" because everybody on earth calls them that and recognizes the name. ULL is trying to force the issue, and the rest of the world doesn't care to catch on. You're ULL, Jenny.

They dont do this on purpose. They eventually took on those nicknames or abbreviation because it was easier and they were known as such.

What if Jenn gets her named tattooed on her arm or something. Then her dad kind of has to call her Jenn or that would be a dick move. Maybe Jenn's dad should be more supportive.

Then that is a dumb attention seeking move on her part. Sound familiar?

Actually, Louisville uses the UofL abbreviation. LINK You're welcome.
Touché
But you are still trying to use a name not approved or recognized by the state. Get it approved and the problem will be solved. Pretty easy right?
Until then your school is called UL-Lafayette on both a academic and athletic level.
And who in the hell wants two different names for a school on either level? fricking backwards coon asses.

Are you admitting your school is essentially a teenage girl crying out for attention?

Aren't those schools Flagships of their respective systems?
